Andrew Buckley, Mastercard | Fintech Finance
Andrew Buckley is a product manager with a global track record leading the launch and scale-up of innovative new services. Including real-time payments at Mastercard, premium card products at American Express and international market entry for BT. Acquiring and integrating firms, building motivated teams, creating thoughtful agile structures, and achieving this on-time & on-budget. Andrew Buckley is an investor and advisor for a number of fintech startups active in financial inclusion, open banking and digital currencies. Most recently with TabbIT (www.tabbit.uk) on their consumer, launch and scale-up strategy. Currently a Governor at Birmingham City University, Trustee at B:music (Birmingham Symphony Hall) and Advisory Board member at the Institute of Digital Marketing, Andrew is an experienced board member, previously holding both Non Executive roles (e.g., Prepay Solutions, UK) and Executive roles (e.g., Chair, Vocalink Asia Pacific, Singapore). As Simon Industrial Fellow at The University of Manchester, Andrew Buckley is researching the challenges of managing innovation in dependable service firms. That is services, often regulated, which citizens expect will be performed consistently and build their wider lives around. Examples include transport, energy utilities, telecommunications and banking. Enabling innovations in Real Time Payments, including the exponential growth of PromptPay in Thailand, The Clearing House’s new RTP in United States and Pay by Bank in the UK. Previously with MasterCard, Andrew Buckley held roles in both London and New York, most recently leading Prepaid; which has grown through innovation to become global market leader. Previously at American Express, Andrew held senior Sales and Technology roles, in both the UK and USA. These included Vice President for Global Corporate Card Product Management, launching innovations such as Corporate Centurion, and Vice President for Global Corporate Marketing, driving digital acquisition innovations. Prior to this Andrew was a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, and before that held sales and product roles with major Telecoms and IT companies. This experience included the startup of Telco’s such as Cegetel in France and BT NIS in Japan. In addition, Andrew has held Non-Executive roles, for example with Prepay Solutions in UK. Andrew Buckley is an Advisory Board member at the IDM (Institute of Direct & Digital Marketing), a published author, holds several patents and a regular conference speaker. Andrew holds an undergraduate Electronic Engineering degree, MBA and Doctorate.
