Richard Harvey is the Global Head of Retail Banking Products at HSBC, where he served for 14 years, bringing 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. His career includes leadership roles as CEO of GE Money Unsecured in the UK, Managing Director of Barclaycard Europe, and other positions at Barclays and Barclaycard. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director (NED) at the Money and Pensions Service, an arm’s-length body of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Digital Experience: Richard Harvey has led large-scale digital transformation at HSBC as the Value Stream Leader for lending and payments. His work involved directing and delivering new digital journeys and customer experiences across key products, utilizing over 3,000 technology resources with significant ongoing investment. Data and Analytics: Richard Harvey led the delivery of risk underwriting systems that provide day-to-day risk decisions, building and deploying new AI models. Product Experience: His expertise spans all retail products, including deposits, payments, unsecured lending, and mortgages. Board and Committee Experience: Richard Harvey has significant experience serving on committees and boards across multiple jurisdictions, including the UK, US, and Scandinavia. Currently a NED with the Money and Pensions Service, his previous board roles include work with HSBC and fintech companies in lending software and fraud biometrics. He chaired the Retail Risk Oversight Committee and the Global Fraud Steering Committee and has participated in retail, wealth, insurance, and asset management risk committees. Richard Harvey has also worked with a number of innovative tech businesses including Divido, Nova credit and Biocatch. Richard Harvey is a Trustee Director at Runnymede and Spelthorne Citizen’s Advice, gaining first-hand experience of the challenges facing those most in need and who MaPS supports through its debt and money advice.
