Aldo Alvarez is the Head of Institutional Strategic and Fintech Investments for LATAM at Citi. He was the Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Aporta, a website that promotes online donations for non-profit organizations in Mexico. As CEO, he is responsible of the company’s vision, leadership, operations, and strategic development. From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Alvarez was part of the private equity firms Palladium Equity Partners and Wyndham Global Partners where he evaluated investment opportunities in Mexico and Latin America. In 2006, he joined Bank of America in New York as an investment banker where he participated in the issuance of leveraged loans and high yield bonds that were used for the buyouts of Outback Steakhouse and Petco by private equity funds. Mr. Alvarez graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a finance degree and a minor in accounting. As a student, he held internships at UBS Investment Bank in New York, at Merrill Lynch Private Banking in Austin, Texas, at Vector Casa de Bolsa in Monterrey, Mexico, and in the Finance Department of Seminis Vegetable Seeds in Oxnard, California
He is a tech entrepreneur with experience in venture investing, building web products, and executing operations and growth strategies for startups. He has worked at private equity funds, investment banks, fintechs, and tech startups.
In 2017, Aldo Alvarez was granted a patent by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) for inventing an "Automated System to Obtain Tax Receipts Immediately, from Payment Transactions Approved by Third Parties, in a Computer Processing System."
