North.cloud has secured $60 million in Series B funding to scale its autonomous financial operating system for cloud and AI infrastructure. For fintech leaders, this signals a shift from manual FinOps dashboards toward automated "agentic" spend management, as the convergence of cloud computing and AI tokens creates increasingly complex, interconnected costs that traditional accounting tools struggle to track.

What was announced

The $60 million Series B round was led by PeakSpan Capital, with participation from Litquidity Ventures, Companyon Ventures, Alpaca, Uncommon Denominator, Gaingels, and Mana Ventures. This capital injection is intended to expand autonomous optimization across major cloud providers, accelerate AI spend management features, and grow the company’s engineering and go-to-market teams.

North currently manages nearly $2 billion in cloud spend, claiming to have saved customers—including Assembly AI, Atlan, Tines, SnapLogic, Emplifi, and Imply—over $400 million by reducing infrastructure waste. The platform functions as a "financial operating system" that automates technology investment decisions rather than just providing data for manual review. By automating FinOps, the company aims to increase compute power per dollar of spend and drive more sustainable AI adoption.

The funding follows the recent launch of North v3, which extended the platform’s reach to Microsoft Azure, completing its coverage of the three primary hyperscalers alongside AWS and Google Cloud Platform. This update also introduced native integrations with Snowflake and major AI providers OpenAI and Anthropic. A key component of the current offering is "TokenFlow," a feature designed to bring model usage, attribution, and financial controls into the same environment used for cloud infrastructure. By integrating these costs, North aims to solve the fragmentation caused when AI features touch multiple systems, making expenses difficult to predict or govern through traditional vendor consoles.

The companies involved

North.cloud positions itself as a specialized financial operating system designed for the modern stack of cloud, AI, and data services. By focusing on automation over visualization, it seeks to replace manual FinOps teams with agentic services that continuously manage the lifecycle of technology spend. Lead investor PeakSpan Capital is a growth-stage investment firm that has been featured in FF News coverage four times previously, focusing on resilient B2B software categories and "agentic" managed services.

The round also saw participation from Alpaca, a major player in the fintech infrastructure space. Alpaca, which has appeared in 25 FF News reports, is widely known for its API-first brokerage and trading infrastructure, highlighting a strategic interest in the underlying plumbing of financial technology. Other participants include Companyon Ventures, an early-stage firm with prior mentions in our reporting, and Gaingels, an investment syndicate that has appeared in two previous stories. The involvement of Litquidity Ventures and Uncommon Denominator further diversifies the cap table with firms focused on the intersection of finance, technology, and market culture.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked the rise of AI-driven financial infrastructure and large-scale Series B rounds within the sector. We recently covered Prism Data Secures $20M Series A to Scale AI-Powered Cash Flow Underwriting, which underscored the growing demand for automated financial intelligence. In the broader infrastructure space, our reporting on Alpaca has been extensive, including BingX Integrates Alpaca Infrastructure to Launch U.S. Stock Trading with Crypto Assets and Bybit Launches U.S. Stock Trading: Access 1,000+ Equities and ETFs via USDC. Additionally, the scale of North’s latest round mirrors other significant capital raises in the treasury and spend management space, such as when Spiko Secures $90M Series B to Revolutionize Tokenized Treasury Management.

What this means

This announcement highlights a critical tension in the enterprise market: cloud spend is no longer just a utility bill; it is the primary cost of goods sold for AI-native companies. As organizations move from experimental AI to production, the "visibility-only" era of FinOps is under immense pressure. Tools that merely report waste are being superseded by platforms that autonomously execute trades and commitments. The entry of fintech-focused investors like Alpaca into this space suggests that cloud and AI capacity are increasingly being treated as financial assets to be traded and optimized, rather than just technical resources to be provisioned.
