Andrew Challis is the co-founder and Co-head of Principal Investments, the combined CVC and work-out principal equity business at Barclays, comprising:
- Strategic Investments: equity investing in fintech and FMIs across capital markets, cards and payments and consumer banking
- Sustainable Impact Capital: Barclays' £500m investment commitment into early-stage climatetech businesses helping Barclays and our clients decarbonise, in the hardest-to-abate sectors
- Legacy, long-term hold and back-book equity: a diverse portfolio of assets across a number of historic business activities, and equity resulting from commercial activities of the Group
Andrew Challis manages a global team of investment professionals, executing and managing a diversified portfolio of venture, growth and late stage investments. In addition to his longstanding involvement in Fintech and Market Structure investing, he has led on the establishment of impact-focused programmes such as Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital, the Female Innovators Lab (co-founded with Anthemis) and Barclays Black Formation Investments (launched with Zeal Capital Partners).
He has over 25 years of financial services experience, comprising senior leadership roles in electronic trading / market structure strategy, and venture/principal investing.
