TEN Credit Union Taps Bankjoy for Unified Digital Banking and Core Conversion
By Lauren Towner · 23 October 2026

Nashville-based TEN Credit Union has selected Bankjoy to provide its consumer and business digital banking platform, timing the rollout to coincide with a major core conversion to Corelation’s KeyStone. For fintech professionals, this represents a high-stakes "big bang" implementation where a legacy institution replaces its core and digital interface simultaneously to minimize member friction and operational downtime.
What was announced
TEN Credit Union (TENCU), which has served Tennessee educators and their communities since 1950, will deploy Bankjoy’s consumer and business digital banking suites. The implementation is specifically designed to launch on the same day the credit union migrates to the Corelation KeyStone core. This synchronized transition is facilitated via Corelation’s KeyBridge API; Bankjoy was the first fintech to receive certification through Corelation’s vendor certification program.
The digital suite includes FraudSense, Bankjoy’s real-time, multi-layered fraud prevention platform, and advanced card controls through a tight integration with Velera. Beyond the initial launch, the agreement includes JoyCompass—Bankjoy’s financial wellness platform—and Plaid-powered account verification and aggregation, both of which can be activated following the primary conversion.
The decision to bundle the core and digital migrations follows a growing trend among credit unions seeking to avoid the fatigue of multiple, staggered technology updates. Bankjoy cited performance data from CommunityWide Federal Credit Union to illustrate the platform's impact on member retention: 91.8% of members who utilized the JoyCompass budgeting tool remained active in digital banking after three months, compared to just 66.4% of members who did not engage with spending analysis features.
"A core conversion is the most important project a credit union can undertake. Our members trust us to get this right, and we know digital banking has to be ready on day one. We can’t treat it as an afterthought,"
Michael Roussel, Chief Innovation Officer at TEN Credit Union
The companies involved
Bankjoy is a digital banking provider specifically focused on community financial institutions, including credit unions and community banks. The firm emphasizes deep, pre-certified integrations with core banking providers to streamline the user experience for institutions that may lack the massive internal development resources of Tier 1 global banks. Bankjoy has established a significant presence in the credit union sector, particularly among those utilizing Corelation’s KeyStone core, positioning itself as a specialist in seamless core-to-digital migrations.
TEN Credit Union, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, was established in 1950. Originally founded to serve the needs of educators, the institution has expanded its reach over more than 75 years to serve broader communities across the state. The credit union is currently undergoing a significant digital transformation to modernize its legacy infrastructure, moving toward API-first architectures to better compete with digital-native neobanks and larger national players. By adopting the KeyStone core alongside Bankjoy’s front-end, TENCU is attempting to consolidate its technological stack into a more agile, integrated ecosystem.
What this means
This move highlights the increasing pressure on community financial institutions to execute "clean" technology migrations. Historically, credit unions would stagger core and digital updates to mitigate operational risk, but the modern member's tolerance for disjointed or dated digital experiences has plummeted. By opting for a "day one" synchronized launch, TENCU is betting that the pre-certified integration between Bankjoy and Corelation is robust enough to handle the transition without the usual post-conversion "stabilization" period. For the wider industry, this raises the bar for core providers; a core is no longer just a back-office ledger, but a platform that must support a seamless ecosystem of third-party fintechs from the moment of implementation.
