Y3S Integrates Curvestone AI to Automate Specialist Mortgage Compliance and Oversight
By Lauren Towner · 19 October 2026

Specialist Mortgage Group has deployed Curvestone AI’s compliance and oversight platform across its advice and quality-control processes to automate regulatory monitoring for its lending brands. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant shift toward using AI to meet rigorous FCA Consumer Duty requirements without the traditional overhead of manual file reviews.
What was announced
Curvestone AI has integrated its oversight platform directly into the existing CRM of Specialist Mortgage Group (SMG) via API. The Cardiff-based group, which operates Y3S Loans, Y3S Bridging and Commercial, and Chase Blue Loans, is using the technology to analyze a wide array of data points, including call transcripts, emails, WhatsApp messages, text messages, credit files, and applicant data. The system checks each file against the group’s specific internal policies as cases progress through the pipeline.
The deployment currently includes four live automated checks. A "shopping list validation" ensures all lender-required documentation is present on file, while a Land Registry report review and an advice suitability assessment test each case against more than 100 validation points. Notably, the platform includes a vulnerability assessment designed to identify customers needing additional support. In one instance, the AI flagged a bereavement mentioned briefly in an early call that had not been raised again, allowing the adviser to provide appropriate care two weeks later.
Each automated report is completed in approximately five minutes, providing the specific evidence behind every finding. While the AI performs the data synthesis and policy checking, the human adviser retains final decision-making authority. All assessments and decisions are recorded for audit purposes and integrated into the group’s monthly management information and annual Consumer Duty reporting. This allows SMG to maintain its policy of 100% case quality-control checks while scaling without a linear increase in headcount.
"The investment is comparable to having a person do the work, but the outcome is consistent in every case. AI is there to assist, not to replace, and it puts me in a position to consider significant scale without depending on recruitment."

Specialist Mortgage Group is a Cardiff-based financial services organization with a strong presence in the UK’s specialist lending market. The group acts as a parent to several well-known brands, including Y3S Loans, Y3S Bridging and Commercial, and Chase Blue Loans. SMG operates in the second charge mortgage and commercial lending sectors, where regulatory scrutiny has intensified following recent FCA reviews. For nearly ten years, the group has distinguished itself by performing quality-control checks on 100% of its cases, a high-water mark for compliance in the brokerage space. By adopting Curvestone’s technology, SMG is moving from a manual consistency model to a policy-driven automated system that supports its 40 to 50 advisers.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has followed Curvestone AI’s rapid expansion within the UK mortgage and compliance sectors. In September 2024, we reported that Curvestone AI Joins OpenAI Partner Network to Scale AI Compliance Automation, a move that signaled the firm’s technical depth. This was followed by the news that Curvestone AI Selected for Barclays Eagle Labs Scaleup Programme to Drive AI Compliance Innovation in early October.
More recently, the company has focused on distribution, as seen when Curvestone AI Partners with Connect to Automate Compliance for 350+ Mortgage Firms. Additionally, the firm’s technology has underpinned new market entries, such as when MortgageLab.ai Launches to Bridge the AI Confidence Gap for UK Mortgage Advisers.
What this means
This deployment highlights a critical juncture for the specialist lending market. As the FCA shifts its focus from mere eligibility to deep suitability, particularly in the second charge market, the manual "spot-check" model of compliance is becoming a liability. Firms that rely on human reviewers to catch subtle indicators of vulnerability across multiple communication channels—like WhatsApp and voice calls—face significant regulatory risk. Curvestone’s ability to process these disparate data streams in minutes puts pressure on traditional compliance departments that still rely on sampling. The industry is moving toward a "100% oversight" standard, where technology handles data mining and humans handle the final judgment.
