PensionBee Simplifies Retirement Management with Launch of Automatic Withdrawals Feature
3 September 2026

PensionBee has introduced an Automatic withdrawals feature to streamline how savers access their retirement funds. By allowing eligible customers to schedule monthly payments directly to their bank accounts, the fintech is addressing a critical friction point in the decumulation phase, offering a level of flexibility and automation that challenges traditional pension providers' manual processes.
What was announced
PensionBee’s new Automatic withdrawals feature is designed to modernise the transition from saving to spending. The tool allows customers to schedule recurring monthly payments from their pension pots directly into their bank accounts. This functionality is available to all eligible customers, currently starting at age 55, though this threshold is set to rise to 57 in 2028 in line with UK regulation.
The feature operates alongside the company’s existing one-off withdrawal option, which remains available for ad-hoc financial needs. Users can set up, modify, or halt these recurring payments independently through their "BeeHive" online account, accessible via both the PensionBee mobile app and website. This self-service model is intended to reduce the administrative burden on savers, who previously might have needed to contact the company to manage regular income streams.
While the technology promotes independence, the feature is supported by PensionBee’s UK-based team of "BeeKeepers"—personal account managers who provide assistance from the initial sign-up through to the drawdown stage. The rollout also includes interactive tools and educational content to assist with decision-making. Customers already making manual regular withdrawals will transition to the automated system immediately, while those approaching retirement age can view the interface to prepare for future eligibility when they reach the required age.
"We’ve enhanced our Withdrawals product in response to feedback on how customers want to take an income from their pension. Alongside one-off withdrawals, they can now set up an Automatic withdrawal that arrives in their bank account every month, with the freedom to change, pause or stop it at any time."

The companies involved
PensionBee is a prominent player in the UK consumer retirement market, positioning itself as a digital-first alternative to legacy pension providers. The company focuses on consolidating various pension pots into a single online plan, aiming to provide transparency and ease of use for a demographic that has historically struggled with fragmented retirement savings. By centralising these assets, the firm attempts to give consumers a clearer view of their total retirement wealth.
Operating as an independent entity, PensionBee has built its reputation on its proprietary technology stack and a customer-centric service model. Its primary interface, the "BeeHive," serves as the central hub for users to track their balance, project future retirement income, and now, automate their withdrawals. The company’s workforce includes a dedicated team of UK-based account managers, known as BeeKeepers, who bridge the gap between automated fintech efficiency and human support. By focusing on the user experience of both the accumulation and decumulation phases of the pension lifecycle, PensionBee has established itself as a significant disruptor in the wealthtech space, particularly for savers who value mobile-first financial management.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed PensionBee’s recent activities and market analysis. In August 2026, the publication covered the company’s political insights in PensionBee Analysis: Can Past Voting Records Predict Chancellor John Healey’s First Budget?. The fintech has also focused on consumer education, as seen in the report Three Life Events That Could Knock Your Retirement Off Course: PensionBee Analysis.
Beyond product and policy, PensionBee has expanded its brand presence through sports, recently documented in PensionBee Secures Front-of-Shirt Sponsorship with Saracens in Major Three-Year Extension. Additionally, the company has highlighted social issues within the sector, such as the findings in PensionBee Warns of £245k Disability Pension Gap: How Families Can Secure Long-Term Financial Futures.
What this means
This move signals a shift in the fintech sector from focusing solely on the "accumulation" phase of wealth to the more complex "decumulation" stage. For years, the industry has focused on making it easy to save; now, the pressure is on to make it equally easy to spend. By automating withdrawals, PensionBee is putting significant pressure on traditional insurers and pension providers whose legacy systems often require manual forms or phone calls to initiate payments. The industry must now grapple with the challenge of balancing this "effortless" user experience with the rigorous security and anti-fraud measures required when large sums of retirement capital begin to move regularly.
