Member Driven Technologies (MDT) has partnered with OnTrac AI to integrate specialized artificial intelligence consulting into its service suite. For credit union executives, this provides a structured framework to move beyond AI experimentation toward scalable, compliant implementation, addressing the critical gap between technological potential and operational reality in the credit union sector.

What was announced

MDT is incorporating OnTrac AI’s Ignite program into its existing Transformational Consulting offering. This expansion is designed to help credit unions navigate the complexities of AI adoption by identifying specific areas where the technology can drive the most value. The program focuses on assessing organizational readiness, establishing governance frameworks, and creating actionable roadmaps for implementation.

The partnership aims to solve the "where to begin" problem for financial institutions. By using OnTrac AI’s methodology, MDT will help its clients evaluate AI opportunities based on three primary metrics: organizational impact, implementation effort, and the likelihood of successful employee adoption. Beyond technical deployment, the collaboration addresses foundational elements such as AI literacy, data security, and responsible implementation standards.

MDT currently supports over 100 credit unions across the United States. Its consulting arm already works to align people and processes to eliminate inefficiencies; the addition of the Ignite framework provides a specialized layer for automation and AI. The goal is to move institutions from curiosity to measurable outcomes, ensuring that AI initiatives support the broader credit union mission of member service while maintaining strict compliance and security standards.

"AI has the potential to transform how credit unions operate, but for many institutions, the biggest challenge is knowing where to begin. By partnering with OnTrac AI, we are giving credit unions access to a structured, responsible and scalable approach to AI adoption. This insight will help our clients move beyond curiosity or confusion around AI and take deliberate steps toward improved operations, stronger employee adoption and better member service in a way that supports compliance, security and the credit union mission of people helping people."

Dan Schneider, Chief Project Officer at MDT.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the evolving technology landscape for credit unions and the strategic moves of MDT’s core partner, Jack Henry. Recently, we covered how Prevail Bank Partners with Jack Henry to Drive Growth Through Open Banking and AI Innovation, highlighting the increasing demand for AI-driven solutions in the banking sector. We also reported on corporate governance shifts in the space, such as when Jack Henry Appoints GoGuardian CEO Richard Preece to Board of Directors.

Furthermore, the integration of third-party services into these ecosystems remains a key trend, as seen when PrintMail Solutions Joins Jack Henry Fintech Integration Network to Streamline Bank Communications. The broader industry focus on AI was also evident in our report on how Eltropy Showcases Agentic AI Strategy Across 14 Major Credit Union and Banking Events.

What this means

This partnership signals a shift in the AI narrative from "if" to "how" for mid-tier financial institutions. While Tier-1 banks have the capital to build proprietary AI labs, credit unions rely on CUSOs and partners to bridge the innovation gap. The industry is currently under pressure to deliver the same level of personalization and efficiency as fintech-first competitors. By formalizing an AI consulting framework, MDT is acknowledging that the bottleneck for AI adoption isn't just the technology itself, but the lack of internal literacy and governance. The success of this move will likely depend on whether credit unions can overcome their traditional risk-aversion to embrace these automated workflows.
