iamproperty Joins Open Property Data Association to Drive Open Data Standards in UK Housing
3 September 2026

iamproperty has joined the Open Property Data Association (OPDA), marking a significant step in the UK’s transition toward a digital property market. For fintech and proptech professionals, this move reinforces the momentum behind open data standards, aiming to eliminate the systemic delays and lack of transparency that currently plague the home buying and selling process.
What was announced
Newcastle-based iamproperty is the latest firm to align with the OPDA’s mission to modernise property transactions. The company provides digital solutions to over 7,000 estate agency branches across the UK, covering the full spectrum of buying, selling, and lettings. By joining the association, iamproperty formalises its commitment to developing and adopting open property data standards.
The firm has a history of attempting to compress transaction timelines. It pioneered the Modern Method of Auction, which targets completions in as little as 56 days. More recently, it launched "Sale Ready," a product designed for private treaty sales that brings essential information upfront to reduce transaction times by an average of four weeks.
Before becoming a formal member, iamproperty was already active in the sector’s digital evolution. The firm participated in the Smart Property Data Trust Framework sandbox and various hackathon events. These initiatives were hosted by the OPDA in conjunction with the Digital Property Market Steering Group (DPMSG). The association’s broader network now includes the UK’s "big six" banks, building societies, and a wide array of conveyancers and technology providers, all focused on creating a more connected and efficient ecosystem through reusable and shareable property information.
"From day one, iamproperty’s mission has been to improve the broken homebuying process. We're passionate about making the property transaction process faster, simpler and more transparent for everyone involved, and we've seen first-hand the power of collaboration in driving meaningful industry change. Joining OPDA as a member is a natural next step for us. We are committed to supporting the development and adoption of open property data standards that can help reduce friction in the home moving process and deliver better outcomes for consumers and property professionals alike."

The companies involved
iamproperty was founded in 2009 by Ben Ridgway and Jamie Cooke. Based in Newcastle, the business has grown into one of the UK’s most prominent property technology firms, focusing on empowering estate agents through market-leading technology and support services. The company’s influence is significant, given its reach into thousands of high-street agency branches and its role in popularising auction-based digital transactions.
The Open Property Data Association (OPDA) is a body dedicated to the digital transformation of the UK property market. It focuses on the creation and implementation of open data standards to ensure that property information is trusted and easily shareable between different parties in a transaction. Maria Harris, who serves as a Non Executive Director at the Open Property Data Association, chairs the group.
The Digital Property Market Steering Group (DPMSG) also plays a central role in this ecosystem, working alongside the OPDA to foster innovation. This collaborative environment is supported by technical partners like Raidiam, which provides the trust framework technology necessary to power the UK’s open property initiatives and ensure secure data exchange across the industry.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed the OPDA’s efforts to reform the sector. In July 2026, we reported on how Home Movers Demand Digital Property Packs as OPDA Reveals Overwhelming Public Support for Reform, highlighting the consumer appetite for digital-first solutions. This was followed by news that the OPDA Urges Industry Action on UK Government Smart Data Consultation for Property, as the association sought to influence national policy.
The underlying need for these reforms was underscored by research from PEXA, which showed that UK Homebuyer Uncertainty Surges as 95% Face Unexpected Costs, PEXA Research Reveals. Additionally, the technical infrastructure for these changes was established through Raidiam’s Trust Framework Technology to Power UK’s Open Property Initiative in late 2025, providing the secure foundation for the data sharing iamproperty is now participating in.
What this means
The inclusion of a major player like iamproperty into the OPDA framework suggests that the "Open Property" movement is reaching a critical mass. Much like Open Banking before it, the success of this initiative depends on the participation of firms that hold significant market share and data. By standardising how information is shared, the industry is putting immense pressure on traditional, paper-heavy conveyancing firms to either digitise or risk obsolescence. However, the transition raises difficult questions about data liability and the speed at which legacy systems can integrate with new, open frameworks. The industry must now prove that these standards can actually deliver the promised speed without compromising security.
