Press Release: Europe's Startup Investors Have Been Flying Blind. Kingscrowd Just Turned the Lights On. | Featured Image by FF News

If you've ever backed a startup through equity crowdfunding in the UK and/or Europe, you already know the problem, even if you've never put a name to it. You pick a platform. You read a pitch deck built to sell you a dream. You check a few metrics the founder chose to show you. And then you invest, largely on vibes, because there is no independent place to check whether this deal actually stacks up against the hundreds of others raising capital across the continent right now.

In the US, that problem was solved years ago. In Europe, it's still the norm, and it's the reason Kingscrowd, the analytics platform that 350,000+ American retail investors (plus the SEC and Harvard) rely on to make sense of private markets, has just crossed the Atlantic.

The launch comes via a new joint venture with Over Ventures, the Milan-based "crowdfunding studio" that has already helped push more than €100 million through 200+ raises on the European equity crowdfunding scene. Kingscrowd Europe is the result of over eight months of work between the two firms, and it marks the first time Kingscrowd has expanded beyond US borders.

Why now? Because the numbers have outgrown the infrastructure.

Equity crowdfunding across the EU and UK is now moving an estimated €500 million a year, with the average raise sitting at €600,000–€700,000, nearly four times the typical US deal size, according to the annual European Community Capital Landscape 2025 report. That's a serious amount of retail and angel capital chasing early-stage deals across dozens of countries, each with its own disclosure rules, reporting formats, and platform quirks. There is currently no single place to compare a Berlin fintech raise against a Barcelona consumer brand against a Lisbon climate-tech play using the same yardstick.

Kingscrowd Europe wants to be that yardstick. It's bringing over the tooling that's already tracked more than 10,800 raises across 120+ platforms in the US, proprietary deal ratings, analyst-vetted research, and portfolio tracking, and adapting it for European regulatory frameworks and regional startup hubs. The pitch is simple: stop evaluating deals on the strength of the pitch deck, and start evaluating them on the strength of the data.

Who's behind it

Kingscrowd Europe is led by Giancarlo Vergine, CEO of Over Ventures, with Alberto Vergine as board member and COO, and Leonard Burger stepping in as Chief Ecosystem Officer.

"Europe's private market is maturing rapidly, but the tools available to retail and angel investors haven't kept pace," Giancarlo Vergine said. "By bringing the analytical rigor that defined [Kingscrowd's] success in the US over to Europe, we're empowering everyday investors to make the kind of data-backed decisions previously reserved for tier-one venture firms."

Burger, who's spent over a decade in the ecosystem, put it more bluntly: this is the due diligence and portfolio tracking platform he's personally been waiting for. "It finally gives investors the transparency and cross-platform clarity required to navigate European private markets with real confidence."

What it actually does

● One dashboard, not ten browser tabs. Centralised due diligence and portfolio tracking across platforms, instead of manually cross-referencing spreadsheets from every site you've ever invested on.

● Benchmarks that mean something. Objective, comparative data on risk, valuation, and growth so a deal has to earn your money rather than just ask nicely for it. ● A map of a messy market. Independent, cross-border reporting built specifically to cut through fragmented EU and UK regulatory frameworks.

It's not just a win for investors, either. Founders raising capital get a clearer read on where they actually sit in the market, useful ammunition when you're trying to convince a room of angels that your valuation is fair.

Get in early

Kingscrowd Europe is in soft launch now, with early-access signups open at kingscrowd.eu. For an ecosystem that's raised billions on enthusiasm and pitch decks, the arrival of an independent scorecard might be the most consequential thing to happen to European crowdfunding since the regulation that made cross-border raising possible in the first place.
