About Ben Smith

Ben is a passionate fintech professional with more than 20 years experience across startups and global multinational companies in both Australia and the UK. Having worked for a number of fintech companies, Ben’s strengths lie in creating new commercial business functions and building out high-performing teams while driving scalable and sustainable growth. Prior to joining Railsbank in April 2021, Ben was Head of Sales (ANZ) for WorldFirst (an Ant Group Company). He was responsible for the overall go-to-market strategy as well as the creation and ongoing P&L of the new business sales channels for Australia and New Zealand. Ben has also held senior commercial leadership roles at start/scale ups Nexpay, Smartpay and Revel Systems and at global brands such as Western Union Business Solutions, Travelex and Custom House. As Railsbank’s General Manager Australia, based in Sydney, Ben will drive the strategic direction of Railsbank in the Australian market. He will also oversee and strengthen Railsbank’s partnerships with customers and key stakeholders as well as focus on the strategic development of customers, partners, products and operations.
