Triathlon Ireland Reduces Financial Reporting From Days to Minutes with AccountsIQ
Triathlon Ireland, the national governing body of triathlon and multi-sport in Ireland, hosting 250+ events nationwide and supporting 20,000 athletes has automated its financial reporting with AccountsIQ’s cloud accounting software.
Before striking a partnership with AccountsIQ, Triathlon Ireland relied on manual processes and disconnected systems, which slowed its financial operations significantly. The organisation faced reporting inefficiencies due to a lack of integrated systems, a reliance on Excel spreadsheets, manual exports, and validations, leading to confusing month-end timing.
Eric Harmon, Financial Controller, Triathlon Ireland said, “Before AccountsIQ, our management accounts involved dozens of Excel exports and constant formula checks. Reporting was time-consuming and month-end often became a challenge.”
“What really stood out about AccountsIQ, was the team’s honest approach about the specific needs of us as an organisation,” added Harmon. “We were thrilled with the smooth implementation process from the team who provided enhanced staff training and a dedicated support manager who walked us through every step of the process. We wanted confidence that AccountsIQ would be a partner – not just a vendor – well beyond onboarding, and that has proven to be the case.’’
AccountsIQ supported Triathlon Ireland with the transition to automated financial processes and expense management workflow, using ExpenseIn, the expense management software platform acquired by AccountsIQ in 2025, in one centralised system. This led to the transformation of day-to-day financial operations, enabling faster processes, better visibility, and more efficient finance management, including:
- Transitioning from 695 nominal codes to 200 streamlined codes.
- Shifting from single dimension reporting to multi-dimensional insights.
- Replacing manual processes with real-time reporting.
- Reducing month-end close from five days to five hours, with financial reporting now completed in minutes.
Harmon added, “Following the integration of AccountsIQ’s cloud accounting software, financial reporting that used to take days of manual work can now be done at the click of a button, which is a significant step forward for our team. AccountsIQ has given us much greater confidence in our reporting, and we are thrilled with the results.”
Darren Cran, CEO of AccountsIQ concluded: “It has been a pleasure to join forces with Triathlon Ireland to enhance its financial operations and remove these long-standing inefficiencies. Fantastic organisations such as Triathlon Ireland continue to suffer from reduced financial efficiency due to a reliance on outdated systems and manual reporting. At AccountsIQ, we pride ourselves on supporting mid-market businesses by implementing our platform to enhance productivity, group accounting features, and next-level business intelligence.”
