Metro Bank Opens New Store in Salford Quays
Metro Bank Salford is based at Capital Quay and has an external ATM supporting cash access.
Ahead of the opening, Rebecca Long-Bailey, MP for Salford said: “It’s great to see new investment and job opportunities coming to Salford. I’m pleased to welcome Metro Bank to our city and look forward to seeing the team play an active role in supporting local people and businesses.”
Teresa Pepper, Salford City Councillor and Lead Member for Skills, Work & Business Support officially opened the store with customers and colleagues and said: “Access to cash and essential services, particularly for older and vulnerable people who rely on face-to-face banking is clearly a concern across the UK. And with many high street banks closing their doors, reaching 66% of the network that existed a decade ago, it’s a pleasure to welcome Metro Bank to Salford. As one of the UK’s fastest growing investment destinations, our ambition for Salford is to build a more inclusive economy, and Metro Bank’s aim reflects the support we want to see in local communities and for businesses which will help to provide a local connection and a friendly, customer-focused face.”
Metro Bank offers relationship banking, putting in-person experience at the forefront of its customer service. Every store has a dedicated local business manager, counter service and cash deposit facilities. Customers can also bank online, via our mobile banking app or using telephone banking from UK-based contact centres. Additionally, Metro Bank Salford offers a Safe Deposit Box service for personal and business customers, and a Safe Space for anyone experiencing domestic abuse.
Salford is in addition to a further three stores in the North-West including Liverpool and Manchester and most recently Chester which opened in July 2025. The bank has also announced plans to open in Gateshead later this year.
Kerry Reynolds, Director of Retail and Business Banking at Metro Bank said: “We’re proud to continue to open more stores across the country. Bringing Metro Bank to Salford further solidifies our presence in the North-West. We know how important it is to have a bank you can visit in person, and we’re delighted to bring our relationship banking to businesses, customers and the community.”
Sam Onafalujo, Local Director, North West at Metro Bank commented: “We’re excited to open the doors to Metro Bank Salford, expanding our presence in the Greater Manchester area. Having lived in and around Salford all my life, I’m especially looking forward to supporting local businesses in the area and the team is ready to welcome customers into our new store in the vibrant Salford Quays.”
