Outline Secures $3M to Launch First Agentic Financial Planning Platform for Mid-Market CFOs
By Lauren Towner · 8 September 2026

Outline has secured $3 million in funding to scale its agentic financial planning platform, aiming to replace manual spreadsheets with AI-driven forecasting. For fintech professionals, this represents a significant push to bring automation to the mid-market CFO office, a sector traditionally underserved by high-end enterprise resource planning tools.
What was announced
Outline, established in 2026, has finalized a $3 million funding round led by Founders Future. The investment also includes contributions from 100in and Newschool, alongside strategic business angels such as Antoine Lizée, AI Lead at Alan, and Raphaël Nahum, Head of Finance at Pennylane. The fresh capital is designated to grow the internal team and accelerate the platform's deployment across France, Europe, and the United States.
The platform targets companies generating between €5M and €150M in revenue—a demographic that often lacks the resources for heavy enterprise software but has outgrown traditional spreadsheets. Outline’s agentic platform connects to a company’s existing infrastructure, including accounting, billing, payroll, and sales software. Once connected, its AI agents analyze the business data to propose a model that reflects the company's actual operations. This model is then cross-referenced against historical data to ensure accuracy before being validated by the finance team.
Currently, the platform is utilized by a dozen finance teams, including those at Zelty, Harmattan AI, Shares, and HarfangLab. By centralizing budget building and results tracking in a single environment, the tool aims to transform financial planning from a multi-day manual process into a real-time strategic asset. Every calculation performed by the agents is documented and traceable, allowing CFOs to verify the source of any figure or forecast and prove accuracy by comparing past months' results.
"Of all the functions in a company, Finance has the most to gain from AI. It should be the one setting the tempo: defining targets, weighing priorities, answering the questions that shape the future. Yet most teams are held back, trapped in files no one fully masters anymore. Generalist AI assistants won't cut it, finance demands rigor, traceability, and teamwork. With Outline, we're building the tool designed for this craft: robust, flexible, and accessible, so CFOs can finally focus on their real mission, informing strategy."
Antoine de Mereuil, co-founder of Outline.
The companies involved
Outline sas is a fintech firm headquartered in France, founded by Hubert Jaouen and Antoine de Mereuil. The company focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and corporate finance, specifically addressing the $6 billion global financial planning software market. The startup positions itself as a specialized alternative to generalist AI tools, emphasizing the rigor required for fiscal responsibility.
Lead investor Founders Future is an active participant in the European venture capital scene, known for supporting early-stage technology companies. The involvement of executives from Alan and Pennylane is particularly notable; Alan is a major player in the digital health insurance space, while Pennylane has established itself as a central platform for French accounting and financial management.
The startup’s client base includes diverse tech-driven enterprises. Zelty provides specialized software for the restaurant industry, while Shares operates a social-focused investment platform. Other early adopters include Harmattan AI and HarfangLab. These companies represent the mid-sized market segment that Outline aims to capture—firms that require sophisticated forecasting to navigate uncertain economic climates and regulatory changes like mandatory e-invoicing.
What this means
This funding highlights a growing industry consensus that general-purpose AI is insufficient for the specialized needs of corporate finance. While AI has rapidly transformed sales and engineering, the CFO’s office has remained tethered to legacy tools. Outline’s entry into the market puts pressure on traditional financial planning and analysis (FP&A) providers who have been slow to move beyond basic automation. The focus on "agentic" AI suggests a new standard for fintech tools. The real test for the sector will be the reliability of these models in the face of volatile market conditions. As mid-sized companies face pressure to modernize for e-invoicing and strategic agility, the demand for tools bridging the gap between Excel and high-end ERPs will intensify.
