Experian and Solidatus have partnered to integrate data lineage capabilities into the Aperture Data Studio platform. For fintech professionals, this addresses the critical need for "traceable" data in regulated environments, allowing firms to map how information moves across legacy systems to ensure compliance with BCBS 239 and DORA while building reliable foundations for AI-driven decisioning.

What was announced

The partnership integrates Solidatus’ business and technical data lineage tools into Aperture Data Studio, Experian’s data intelligence platform. This combined solution is designed for organisations managing complex data estates, particularly those in highly regulated sectors. It allows users to not only identify data quality issues but also understand the root cause, the owner of the data, and which downstream processes or reports are affected.

Solidatus uses connectors, code scanning, and AI-assisted curation to automate the discovery and mapping of data lineage. When integrated with Experian’s profiling and validation capabilities, the platform enriches lineage maps with data quality metrics, business definitions, and regulatory context. This "connected view" is intended to help firms meet stringent regulatory requirements, such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s BCBS 239 and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).

By linking data quality with lineage, the companies aim to provide a foundation for AI governance. This ensures that the data feeding AI models is traceable and meets defined quality standards, reducing the risk of unreliable AI-driven outcomes. The integration is already being utilised by the British Business Bank to reduce complexity across its metadata and data management operations.

"By bringing Experian and Solidatus together, our customers can connect two sides of the same problem. Experian helps organisations assess, improve, contextualise and govern their data, while Solidatus adds detailed traceability of how that data moves and changes."

The companies involved

Experian is a global information services group and a dominant force in the credit reporting and data analytics market. Headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, and listed on the London Stock Exchange, the company provides data and analytical tools to clients in more than 30 countries. Its Aperture Data Studio is a core component of its data intelligence offering, helping businesses manage data governance and operational quality. Experian has a significant footprint in the financial services sector, where its data is used for credit risk assessment and identity verification.

Solidatus is a specialised data management firm focused on data lineage and metadata discovery. The company provides a platform that allows organisations to visualise and manage the flow of data across their entire infrastructure, helping them understand the relationships between different data points and systems. Unlike traditional static data catalogues, Solidatus emphasizes dynamic mapping to support regulatory compliance and digital transformation. The firm operates in a niche but increasingly vital segment of the fintech market, serving large-scale enterprises that face complex data governance challenges across multiple legacy and cloud platforms.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has extensively covered Experian’s expansion into AI-driven services and its efforts to modernise credit infrastructure. Recently, the company launched its AI-powered Activate Engine to personalize credit decisioning and became the first personal finance app to integrate with Google Gemini for AI-powered credit insights. Furthering its reach in the lending space, Experian also introduced a Cashflow Data Bureau to revolutionise underwriting through real-time data access. Additionally, the firm’s healthcare division, Experian Health, recently acquired eInsights to address revenue leakage. While Solidatus has not been the primary subject of prior reporting, this partnership marks a significant integration of its lineage technology into Experian’s established ecosystem.

What this means

This partnership signals a shift in the data management market away from siloed tools toward "connected governance." For too long, data quality and data lineage have been treated as separate problems, leaving a gap where firms knew their data was wrong but didn't know why or where it came from. As regulators increase pressure through frameworks like DORA, the "black box" approach to data is no longer viable. This move puts pressure on traditional data catalogue providers who lack deep integration with quality-checking engines. The industry's focus is clearly moving toward proving the provenance of data, especially as AI models demand higher transparency to avoid "garbage in, garbage out" scenarios.
