Experian Integrates with Google Gemini to Provide AI-Powered Credit Insights
By Lauren Towner · 24 September 2026

Experian has integrated its personal finance application with Google Gemini, marking the first time a credit bureau has embedded its services directly into the AI platform. This collaboration allows US consumers to access credit insights and FICO ratings through conversational AI, signaling a major shift in how financial data is distributed and consumed within digital assistant ecosystems.
What was announced
On September 23, 2026, Experian and Google launched a strategic collaboration that makes Experian the first personal finance app integrated into the Google Gemini ecosystem. This integration allows consumers in the United States to authorize a connection between their Experian account and Gemini, enabling them to ask natural language questions about their credit profile. Users can initiate these interactions by tagging "@Experian" within a chat or by navigating through Google’s Personal Intelligence settings.
The integration provides access to a consumer’s FICO credit rating and the key factors influencing it. For example, a user can ask, “@Experian, what’s my credit rating?” and receive a personalized response within the Gemini interface. While the AI provides conversational context and simplified explanations of credit data, users who wish to view their full FICO Score 8 will continue to be directed to the Experian website or mobile app. The setup process is designed to be consumer-controlled; users must sign in to their Google account, navigate to the "Connected Apps" menu, and explicitly authorize Experian to link the accounts.
The service is available to existing Experian members, while new users can join the platform at no cost through the Gemini experience. Beyond credit monitoring, the companies have stated plans to expand the integration to include functional tools, such as subscription cancellation services, which are intended to help consumers manage and reduce unwanted recurring expenses directly through the AI interface.
"Our collaboration with Google delivers on that expectation, giving our existing members another way to engage with Experian while introducing us to consumers who may be discovering Experian for the first time. By bringing consumer-permissioned Experian credit insights into Gemini, we can help consumers better understand their credit and put their own information to work for them, in addition to the products, services, and experiences we power directly for our clients."
Jeff Softley, CEO of Experian North America.
The companies involved
Experian is a global data and technology firm and one of the world’s leading credit reporting agencies. The company provides a wide range of financial services, from consumer credit monitoring to business-to-business risk management and decisioning tools. With a significant presence in the North American market, Experian has been a frequent subject of industry analysis, with FF News covering the organization in 106 separate reports. The firm has increasingly focused on consumer-permissioned data as a means to provide more granular financial insights.
Google, a dominant force in global technology, has expanded its reach into the financial sector through its cloud infrastructure and AI developments. Its Google Cloud division offers specialized solutions for financial services, and the company has been featured in 146 FF News stories. The deployment of Gemini as a functional "Connect App" ecosystem represents Google's attempt to move generative AI beyond simple information retrieval and into the realm of "agentic" commerce, where the AI can interact with third-party data to perform specific financial tasks for the user.
What FF News has reported before
The integration with Gemini follows a series of AI-driven advancements from both companies. On September 10, 2026, FF News reported that Experian Launches AI-Powered Activate Engine to Personalize Credit Decisioning, which brought real-time underwriting capabilities to its clients. Google has also been expanding its AI partnerships in adjacent sectors; on September 17, we covered how Vitality and Google Cloud Launch AI-Powered Health Platform in the US to Slash Healthcare Costs.
The broader industry trend toward AI-native financial services is accelerating. On September 14, Worldline Debuts AI Payment Handler to Power Agentic Commerce via Universal Commerce Protocol, highlighting the shift toward autonomous transaction management. Furthermore, the rise of specialized AI platforms is evident in the venture market, such as when Sav Secures $3.5M Pre-Series A to Scale AI-Native Wealth Platform for GCC Expats earlier this month.
What this means
This announcement marks a pivotal moment in the transition from "app-centric" to "agent-centric" finance. By allowing credit data to live inside a third-party AI assistant, Experian is acknowledging that the primary point of consumer contact is shifting away from proprietary banking apps and toward unified AI interfaces. This move puts immense pressure on traditional financial institutions to justify their own app real estate. If a consumer can manage their credit health and cancel subscriptions via Gemini, the traditional banking app risks being relegated to a back-end utility. Furthermore, it raises significant industry questions about the long-term security and privacy of sensitive credit data when processed through large language models.
