Diebold Nixdorf and stc pay Bahrain Bridge Digital and Physical Finance with DN Series Tech
By Lauren Towner · 14 October 2026

stc pay Bahrain is expanding its digital-first financial services into the physical realm through a new partnership with Diebold Nixdorf. By deploying DN Series cash recyclers and Vynamic software, the mobile wallet provider is bridging the gap between cash and digital ecosystems, marking a significant shift for telco-led fintechs in the Middle East region.
What was announced
At the Fintech Forward 2026 event in Bahrain, stc pay Bahrain and Diebold Nixdorf confirmed an agreement to integrate physical self-service hardware into the mobile wallet’s digital infrastructure. The deployment centers on DN Series cash recyclers, which will be installed across various locations in Bahrain. This rollout includes specific units equipped with Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) kits, designed to transform the traditional ATM experience into a comprehensive digital service hub.
These devices are not intended to function as standard cash dispensers. Instead, they serve as "physical gateways" that allow users to move assets between cash, cards, and mobile wallets. The functionality extends to a wide array of financial and telecommunications tasks, including wallet top-ups, the issuance of eSIMs, and both domestic and international remittances. Furthermore, the kiosks will facilitate bill payments, gift card purchases, and transportation card top-ups. In a move to support the local business ecosystem, the machines will also handle cash collections for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and process charitable donations.
The hardware is supported by the DN Vynamic Software suite. This includes Vynamic Transaction Middleware, a cloud-native, API-driven platform that manages transaction orchestration across different channels. Additionally, Vynamic Terminal Driving enables modern payment capabilities such as contactless transactions and real-time account access. To ensure high availability, the fleet utilizes the DN AllConnect Data Engine, which applies artificial intelligence and machine learning for predictive maintenance, alongside Vynamic View for constant monitoring. The technical execution and local support for this project are being managed in partnership with Almoayed Group WLL, Diebold Nixdorf’s licensed partner in Bahrain.
"Expanding our network beyond the mobile app is a strategic step towards making our financial services more accessible to the wider community. By introducing physical kiosks, we are providing customers with greater choice and flexibility in how they access and use our services, while extending our reach across Bahrain. Our partnership with Diebold Nixdorf enables us to deliver a secure, reliable and convenient experience, further strengthening our commitment to advancing financial inclusion."

What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed the rapid expansion of stc pay Bahrain’s service portfolio. We previously reported on the company’s efforts to enhance security and user experience when stc pay Bahrain Debuts In-App Authentication to Replace SMS OTPs for Online Payments. The provider has also been active in the cross-border space, as seen when stc pay Bahrain Partners with PayPal for Seamless Cross-Border Fund Transfers, and its broader regional ambitions were highlighted when stc pay Bahrain Launches Regional Expansion with New Services for Saudi Nationals.
Diebold Nixdorf’s DN Series hardware has also featured in our coverage of traditional banking modernization. We recently reported on how Thomaston Savings Bank Taps Diebold Nixdorf for AI-Driven ATM Modernization and Managed Services, demonstrating the hardware’s versatility across both community banks and large-scale fintech providers.
What this means
This partnership marks a definitive end to the "digital-only" dogma that once defined the fintech sector. For telco-backed wallets, a physical footprint is no longer a sign of legacy operations but a strategic utility for customer acquisition and retention. By integrating complex services like eSIM issuance and SME cash management into a kiosk, stc pay is directly challenging both traditional bank branches and telco retail outlets. For the wider industry, this move places significant pressure on traditional ATM manufacturers to prove their software credentials. The success of this model will depend on whether the convenience of "phygital" touchpoints can outweigh the operational costs of maintaining a hardware fleet in a cash-optimized society.
