Revolut Disrupts German Telecom Market with Launch of Revolut Mobile
By Lauren Towner · 15 October 2026

Revolut has officially entered the German telecommunications market with the launch of Revolut Mobile, a competitive data and voice service integrated directly into its financial app. This move signals a significant escalation in the "super-app" race, as the fintech giant leverages its massive user base to challenge traditional mobile network operators through a platform-based utility model.
What was announced
Revolut Mobile has launched in Germany, offering a monthly plan that includes 120 GB of high-speed data for €14.99. The service, powered by the Telefónica Deutschland network, provides download speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s. Once the 120 GB threshold is reached, users retain access to unlimited data at a reduced speed of 2 Mbit/s. The plan is designed for flexibility, featuring no long-term contract commitments and the ability to cancel on a monthly basis.
The service is available to more than 3 million Revolut customers in Germany and is managed entirely within the existing Revolut application. Key features of the offering include:
- EU Roaming: A 40 GB allocation for use across Europe without speed throttling.
- Number Management: Support for existing number portability, the option to request a new number, or the purchase of "VIP" memorable numbers for an additional fee.
- RevPoints Integration: Customers can use accumulated RevPoints to pay for their monthly mobile tariff, either in full or in part.
- Technical Perks: The plan includes an all-in-one eSIM that handles both local and international data, a "Messaging Pass" for continued access to apps like WhatsApp in over 140 countries, and a complimentary NordVPN subscription.
The initiative is part of Revolut’s "New Bets" strategy, which treats new product lines as internal startups. This allows the company to scale non-financial services rapidly by utilizing its established ecosystem. Revolut currently operates eleven distinct product lines that each generate more than €120 million in annual revenue.
"Mit Revolut Mobile bringen wir dieselbe disruptive Energie in den Telekommunikationsmarkt, die wir einst ins Banking gebracht haben. Wir verbinden erstklassige Konnektivität mit dem besten Service, dem besten Preis und der besten Nutzererfahrung. Wir beweisen, dass Mobilfunk unglaublich unkompliziert sein kann. Das ist Telekommunikation, neu gebaut für die Art und Weise, wie wir heute wirklich leben."
Elyas Sadou, General Manager Telecom at Revolut.
The companies involved
Revolut is a global financial platform that has grown to serve more than 80 million customers worldwide. Since its inception, the company has expanded from a multi-currency card provider into a comprehensive financial ecosystem offering banking, investments, and now telecommunications. Its "New Bets" initiative highlights the company's shift toward a diversified portfolio of both financial and non-financial services.
The mobile service is operated in partnership with 1GLOBAL, a telecommunications provider that supplies the underlying technology for Revolut’s mobile infrastructure. Founded by Hakan Koç, who also serves as CEO, 1GLOBAL specializes in enabling digital brands to integrate mobile connectivity into their existing platforms. The network coverage is provided by Telefónica Deutschland, which has positioned its wholesale business to support the "platform economy" by allowing digital brands to convert their customer relationships into integrated mobile services. Jörg Kablitz serves as the Chief Partner & Wholesale Officer at Telefónica Deutschland, overseeing these strategic integrations.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has followed Revolut’s aggressive expansion and the evolution of its loyalty ecosystem closely. Recently, the company has focused on increasing the utility of its RevPoints program, as seen when Revolut RevPoints: UK Customers Can Now Transfer Points to Major Global Hotel Groups and the announcement that Revolut and Eurostar Partner to Turn RevPoints into European Rail Travel. These moves mirror the current integration of RevPoints into the German mobile offering.
Beyond rewards, Revolut continues to secure its global banking footprint, having recently seen Revolut Secures Argentina Banking License with Banco Cetelem Acquisition Approval. The company also maintains a focus on social impact, as reported when Revolut Partners with International Rescue Committee to Enable Global Humanitarian Donations.
What this means
This launch is a textbook example of the "platform economy" disrupting traditional industry silos. By embedding a high-utility service like mobile data into a banking app, Revolut significantly increases its "stickiness," making it harder for customers to churn to competitors. For the telecommunications sector, this represents a new wave of pressure; traditional carriers are no longer just competing with each other, but with digital-first platforms that have lower customer acquisition costs and existing billing relationships. The success of this model will likely raise questions for the wider fintech sector about whether the path to profitability lies in becoming a one-stop-shop for all digital life services, rather than just a financial intermediary.
