Eltropy Launches Branded Texting to Shield Credit Union Members from Impersonation Scams
By Lauren Towner · 14 October 2026

Eltropy has launched Branded Texting, a Rich Communication Services (RCS) solution designed for credit unions and community banks. By providing carrier-verified identities and interactive messaging, the platform addresses the critical need for trust in a landscape where text-based fraud is surging, allowing smaller institutions to offer the same sophisticated digital experiences as major national banks.
What was announced
The new Branded Texting solution utilizes the Rich Communication Services (RCS) protocol to move beyond the limitations of standard SMS. It is designed specifically for credit unions and community banks, providing them with a carrier-verified business profile that displays the institution’s name and logo directly within the consumer's native messaging app. This verification is intended to help users distinguish legitimate communications from the rising tide of impersonation scams.
The platform introduces several interactive features, including images, carousels, and tap-to-act buttons, which facilitate more complex workflows such as payment reminders, loan updates, and appointment scheduling. According to data from Juniper Research, the timing of this launch coincides with a massive shift in device compatibility; the share of mobile devices in North America capable of receiving RCS business messages is estimated to have grown from 40.3% in 2024 to 86.5% in 2025. This expansion is largely driven by the adoption of RCS support across both Apple iOS and Google Android devices on major U.S. carriers, reaching nearly 90% of phones in the United States.
Eltropy’s system includes an automatic SMS fallback for instances where RCS is unavailable, ensuring messages still reach their destination, though without the verified branding or interactive elements. The solution is integrated with the company's existing messaging compliance framework, which manages consent, opt-out protocols, and audit controls. This launch comes as Federal Trade Commission data shows consumers lost $470 million to text-based scams in 2024, often involving fake fraud alerts from financial institutions.
"Texting works because it fits into people’s lives. Branded Texting is a game changer because it builds on that familiarity with verified identity and a much richer experience. Credit unions and community banks ask consumers to verify their identity every day. Consumers deserve that assurance in return. A carrier-verified profile helps them recognize that a message is coming from their financial institution. Rich content and clear action buttons then make it easier to understand the message and take the next step – all in the messaging app they already use."

The companies involved
Eltropy is an agentic AI platform that specializes in serving the specific regulatory and operational needs of credit unions and community banks. The company provides a suite of tools for digital conversations, covering the full spectrum of financial services including lending, payments, collections, and general member support. With a client base that includes more than 750 financial institutions, Eltropy has positioned itself as a key infrastructure provider for smaller banks looking to modernize their communication stacks without the massive internal development budgets of global financial giants.
The company focuses on integrating AI and automation into existing service and authentication workflows. By concentrating on the credit union and community bank sector, Eltropy addresses a market segment that often faces higher relative costs for fraud and digital transformation; LexisNexis Risk Solutions recently found that every $1 of fraud loss costs U.S. financial firms $5.75 in total. The company’s platform is designed to handle the rigorous compliance requirements of the financial sector, ensuring that every interaction meets industry standards for security and record-keeping.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has followed Eltropy’s rapid expansion in the credit union space, recently reporting on their partnership with Tyfone to launch auto-authenticated in-app member support, a move aimed at eliminating repetitive logins for users. The company has also been heavily focused on the deployment of specialized artificial intelligence, having launched an AI Agent Marketplace and an Agentic AI Early Access Program to bring advanced automation to its 750+ partner institutions. To support the adoption of these technologies, Eltropy has also invested in industry education, including the expansion of its Agentic AI Certification program, which offers free training to staff at credit unions and community banks.
What this means
The move to RCS-based branded texting is a necessary evolution for the "trust economy" in financial services. For years, the ubiquity of SMS has been its greatest weakness, as the lack of sender verification turned the most popular communication channel into a playground for phishers. By leveraging the recent interoperability between Apple and Android for RCS, Eltropy is helping smaller institutions close a significant UX gap. The industry is under immense pressure to reduce fraud losses, and while verified profiles are not a silver bullet, they shift the burden of verification away from the consumer. The question now is whether carriers can maintain the integrity of these verified profiles better than they did with the now-compromised "Verified Caller" systems.
