Brad Carr And Claire Melling – Open Banking And Consumer Data Rights
FF News had the opportunity to meet Brad Carr, Director at NAB, and Claire Melling, Head of Bank of APIs at NatWest, to learn more about open banking and consumer data rights.
NAB (National Australia Bank) is one of the largest banks in Australia, serving more than 9 million customers worldwide and managing over AUD 750 billion in assets. NatWest, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, is one of the largest banks in the UK, with a customer base of over 14 million and total assets exceeding GBP 350 billion.
“We’ve got great partnerships already with a number of the fintechs in the UK, and we want to continue doing that in terms of what we can do in the regulation, but also, how do we go beyond regulation to create those compelling propositions to work together?” – Claire Melling
“We are in an economy where there are lots of significant cyber threats and a lot of fraud and scam activity, and I think that one of the exciting opportunities with open banking and CDR is to direct more of the activity away from those dangerous practices like screen scraping, and more into a secure regime.”
