Triple Point Backs Ayan Capital with £75M Shariah-Compliant Facility for Halal Car Finance
By Ali Paterson · 9 September 2026

Triple Point has arranged a £75 million Shariah-compliant facility for Ayan Capital, a London-based fintech providing Islamic car finance. For the UK fintech sector, this marks a significant institutional backing of ethical, asset-backed lending models, enabling Ayan to scale its technology-led underwriting for prime and near-prime customers who are often underserved by traditional banks.
What was announced
The £75 million senior Shariah-compliant facility, structured as an ijara-based agreement, provides Ayan Capital with the capital necessary to refinance an existing lender and accelerate its next phase of growth. Based in London and authorised by the FCA, Ayan Capital focuses on providing car finance to both retail and business customers across the United Kingdom. The company officially launched its regulated retail product in late 2025, positioning itself as a technology-first platform in the Islamic finance sector. The company was founded by Abdullo Kurbanov, Firdavs Mirzoev, and Zuhursho Rahmatulloev, who previously co-founded Alif, a challenger bank serving over 10 million customers.
The ijara-based model differs from traditional interest-bearing loans by adhering to ethical principles that prohibit interest and require financial products to be asset-backed and free from speculative risk. Under this framework, Ayan Capital purchases and maintains ownership of the vehicle throughout the rental term, assuming the ownership risk. Customers make fixed monthly rental payments that are agreed upon at the start of the contract. A specific feature of this arrangement is the AyanCare product, where the company takes on enhanced repair responsibilities for the vehicles it owns. By utilizing technology-led underwriting, the facility allows Ayan to target creditworthy prime and near-prime segments that are frequently overlooked by mainstream UK lenders, while simultaneously reducing the company's cost of funding to support more competitive pricing for eligible customers.
"From our first conversation, Triple Point felt like partners on the same side of the table. This facility lowers our cost of funding, which means more competitive pricing for eligible customers. It funds the launch of AyanCare, where we take enhanced repair responsibility for the vehicles we own. And it builds the balance sheet, systems and governance that support our long-term ambition to seek authorisation as a UK bank, so we can offer genuinely better financial products across the board."

The companies involved
Triple Point is an investment manager specializing in private markets with a dedicated specialty finance team. The firm focuses on providing capital to non-bank lenders and fintechs that require sophisticated, often bespoke, funding structures to scale their operations. Within its specialty finance arm, the firm manages transactions led by professionals such as Ellis Diamanti, Head of Specialty Finance, and Anastasia Chernoyarova, a Director in the Specialty Finance team.
Ayan Capital was established by a founding team with significant experience in building large-scale financial infrastructure. Abdullo Kurbanov, Firdavs Mirzoev, and Zuhursho Rahmatulloev previously co-founded Alif, a prominent challenger bank that serves more than 10 million customers across Central Asia and Pakistan. Alif operates through various entities, including Alif Uzbekistan and OJSC Alif Bank. By applying the lessons learned from Alif’s expansion in emerging markets, the founders launched Ayan Capital to address the specific needs of the UK’s Islamic finance market. The company operates as an FCA-authorised fintech, bridging the gap between Shariah-compliant ethical frameworks and modern, technology-driven consumer finance for the UK retail and business segments.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has followed the development of Ayan Capital since its early regulatory milestones, reporting in October 2025 that Ayan Capital Secures FCA Credit License and Launches Tech-Driven Islamic Consumer Finance. This move laid the groundwork for the retail product launch and the institutional funding facility announced today.
Triple Point has also been a frequent subject of coverage regarding its specialty finance activities. In May 2026, we reported that Triple Point Supports Pelican Capital’s Investment in Steplab with Debt Facility, highlighting the firm's role in providing structured debt to support mid-market growth. Additionally, FF News has extensively covered the founders' previous venture, Alif, across multiple reports detailing its growth as a leading challenger bank in the Central Asian region, which provided the blueprint for the technology-led approach now being applied by Ayan Capital in the UK market.
What this means
This transaction signals a maturing of the UK’s Islamic finance sector, moving it away from early-stage, bespoke funding toward institutional-grade facilities. By securing £75 million on institutional terms, Ayan Capital puts pressure on mainstream UK motor finance providers who have largely ignored the Shariah-compliant segment. The ijara model’s focus on asset ownership and repair responsibility also challenges the standard hire-purchase status quo, appealing to a broader demographic interested in transparent, ethical lending. The move highlights a growing trend where fintechs with proven emerging-market leadership are successfully exporting sophisticated financial models into the more rigid, but underserved, niches of the UK credit market.
