Reseda Group Launches Bolt BaaS Platform to Bridge Fintech and Credit Unions
By Lauren Towner · 16 September 2026

Reseda Group has launched Bolt, a new Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform designed to bridge the gap between fintech innovation and credit union stability. By positioning MSU Federal Credit Union as the financial institution of record, the platform provides a regulated infrastructure for fintechs to deploy branded banking services, including payments and card issuance, with significantly reduced time-to-market.
What was announced
The launch of Bolt by Reseda Group introduces a comprehensive suite of API and SDK-driven tools aimed at both financial institutions and fintech companies. The platform functions as a secure banking infrastructure, allowing non-bank entities to offer financial products without the burden of obtaining their own banking licenses. Key features include digital account opening, money movement, debit card issuance, and external account connectivity, all delivered through a single platform.
Bolt operates under a shared responsibility model to manage risk and compliance. It utilizes a governed framework with specific vendor partners to handle Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) processes before any new account opening begins. Once accounts are established, MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) takes over the ongoing monitoring, compliance oversight, and identification of unusual account activity. This structure allows fintechs to focus on user experience while the credit union manages the regulatory and operational complexities of a licensed financial institution.
TAPP Engine has been named as the platform's inaugural fintech partner. TAPP Engine is leveraging Bolt to link its cash management solutions directly to MSUFCU. This integration enables TAPP Engine to offer a white-labeled private banking experience, allowing its clients to manage cash through a branded interface while the actual deposits remain secured within the credit union system. The platform is designed for scalability, offering webhooks and flexible development tools to accommodate evolving consumer and business needs without requiring a total system redesign.
"Speed to market is essential for both financial institutions and fintech innovators looking to meet evolving consumer expectations. Bolt by Reseda Group was built to remove the barriers that often slow innovation by creating a secure, seamless bridge between fintech innovators and trusted financial institutions. With APIs, flexible integration options, and comprehensive banking infrastructure, we're helping organizations bring new solutions and enhanced experiences to people today, not years from now."
Ben Maxim, Chief Operating Officer at Reseda Group and Chief Technology Officer at MSUFCU.
The companies involved
Reseda Group is a wholly-owned Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) of MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU). It was established to drive innovation within the financial services sector by identifying, developing, and implementing emerging technologies. By combining the agility of a technology firm with the operational experience of MSUFCU, Reseda Group aims to strengthen the connection between consumers and their financial institutions through modern digital experiences.
MSU Federal Credit Union, acting as the Financial Institution of Record for the Bolt platform, provides the necessary regulatory framework and deposit-holding capabilities. As a major player in the credit union space, MSUFCU has a history of building and deploying its own fintech solutions, which informed the development of the Bolt infrastructure.
TAPP Engine is a fintech firm specializing in digital wealth and cash management solutions. The company provides the technological framework that allows financial institutions and advisors to offer sophisticated, branded financial services to their clients. Will Dolan serves as the President of TAPP Engine, leading the company's efforts to integrate high-tech front-end experiences with secure, compliant back-end deposit structures through partnerships with BaaS providers.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has previously tracked the expansion of TAPP Engine’s ecosystem within the credit union and wealth management sectors. In a significant move to broaden its service offering, the company recently collaborated with a major industry player to enhance its digital capabilities. Specifically, TAPP Engine Partners with Envestnet to Boost Digital Wealth for Credit Unions, a development that highlighted the firm's focus on bringing institutional-grade wealth management tools to smaller financial institutions. This earlier partnership underscored TAPP Engine’s strategy of using modular technology to help credit unions compete with larger national banks, a theme that continues with its adoption of the Bolt BaaS platform.
What this means
The launch of Bolt signals a maturing of the BaaS market, specifically within the credit union sector. While many early BaaS players were community banks, the entry of a large credit union-backed platform like Reseda Group suggests that the "Financial Institution of Record" model is becoming a standard for credit unions looking to diversify revenue and grow deposits. This move puts pressure on traditional BaaS providers who lack the deep, community-focused trust inherent in the credit union model. However, the success of this initiative will depend on how effectively MSUFCU can manage the heightened regulatory scrutiny currently facing the BaaS industry, particularly regarding third-party risk management and AML compliance.
