Money20/20 USA has unveiled an expanded Startup Hub for its upcoming Las Vegas show, creating a high-stakes environment for early-stage firms to interface with institutional capital and legacy banks. For fintech professionals, this expansion signals a renewed focus on the sector's pipeline as established players seek fresh innovation to drive the next cycle of growth.

What was announced

The expanded Startup Hub at Money20/20 USA is designed as a dedicated ecosystem for emerging companies to connect with venture capitalists, technology providers, and media. The initiative features an enhanced founder showcase and curated networking events intended to facilitate partnerships between startups and enterprise-level partners. This year, the hub is supported by Silicon Valley Bank, a division of First Citizens Bank, which is highlighting four specific clients within the space.

The featured startups include Alix, an automated wealth transfer platform for estate settlements; Odynn, an AI-driven modular platform for loyalty and rewards programs; Sphere Labs, which develops infrastructure for global money movement; and Highbeam, an AI cash management tool tailored for consumer brands. The event, held at the Venetian in Las Vegas from October 18-21, expects to attract 1,500 startups, following a track record of hosting early-stage firms like Airwallex and Feedzai that later achieved significant scale.

Content sessions within the hub will feature practical scaling insights from industry figures including Brandon Millman, CEO and Co-founder of Phantom, and Andrew Reed, Partner at Sequoia Capital. The programming is specifically geared toward the mechanics of funding and building high-growth financial technology companies in the current market.

"Startups have always been the engine of innovation in financial services. Founders are building the technologies and business models that will define the future of financial services, and we are committed to helping them succeed by providing access to capital, expertise and meaningful connections. Money20/20 is where industry leaders come together, making it an ideal place for entrepreneurs to showcase their innovations and unlock new opportunities. We are delighted to see four of the companies we support featured in this year's Startup Hub."

The companies involved

Money20/20 is a flagship global fintech event series owned by Informa. It serves as a primary gathering point for the financial services industry, spanning policymakers, investors, and technology innovators. The USA edition remains a central fixture for the North American market, focusing on the intersection of traditional banking and disruptive technology.

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) is a major participant in this year's hub. Now operating as a division of First Citizens Bank, SVB is currently undergoing a transition that will see it rebranded as First Citizens Innovation Banking and First Citizens Fund Banking. Despite the corporate shifts under its parent, First Citizens Bank, SVB maintains its position as a specialist lender and service provider for the innovation economy. The bank’s involvement highlights its continued focus on the startup lifecycle, from seed-stage infrastructure firms like Sphere Labs to consumer-focused AI platforms like Highbeam. Other participating entities include Sequoia Capital, a prominent venture capital firm, and Phantom, a digital wallet provider led by Brandon Millman.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed the evolution of the Money20/20 brand as it expands its global footprint and strategic partnerships. What this means

The expansion of the Startup Hub is a clear signal that the "flight to quality" in fintech investing is entering a new phase. By integrating Silicon Valley Bank so deeply into the hub, Money20/20 is positioning itself as the critical bridge for startups navigating the post-SVB-collapse landscape. The focus on AI-driven cash management and automated wealth transfer suggests that the industry is moving away from pure payment plays toward sophisticated, automated back-office and fiduciary tools. Watch for whether these four featured startups can leverage this visibility into Series A or B rounds; their performance will be a litmus test for the current appetite of venture capital in a high-interest-rate environment.
