TransferGo and UNITED24 have convened over 100 Ukrainian influencers in Warsaw to bolster the "Transfers That Unite" campaign. By pledging a 0.2% contribution on top of every transfer to Ukrainian IBANs until 29 October, the initiative demonstrates how fintechs can leverage community engagement and cross-border payment flows to fund critical educational infrastructure during times of crisis.

What was announced

The BigThings 2.0 event, held on Saturday, 10 October, served as a focal point for the "Transfers That Unite" initiative, a collaboration between fintech TransferGo and the fundraising platform UNITED24. The campaign is designed to support Ukrainian students and future professionals currently enrolled in colleges within Ukraine. Under the terms of the programme, TransferGo will contribute an additional 0.2% of the value of every transfer made to a Ukrainian IBAN to UNITED24’s Education and Science programme. This contribution is made at no extra cost to the sender and will remain active until 29 October.

The Warsaw gathering attracted nearly 150 attendees, including over 100 Ukrainian influencers from cities across Poland, such as Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Lublin, and Szczecin. The event featured practical workshops on content creation and social media trends for 2027, led by blogger Anita Solovey, who has nearly 400,000 followers. Kateryna Pavlenko, the singer known as MONOKATE, also addressed the crowd on the importance of promoting Ukrainian culture and creating Ukrainian-language content. Attendees received personalised student gradebooks brought from Ukraine and participated in a prize draw for a breakfast with the guest of honour. The initiative specifically targets the Education and Science programme of UNITED24, with representatives from the platform explaining how they convert audience engagement into tangible financial support for academic institutions.

"Ukrainian creators abroad have become some of the strongest voices keeping Ukraine’s story alive, and BigThings 2.0 was our way of bringing those voices into one room. Every transfer home is already an act of care for family, and with Transfers That Unite, we’re making sure that it also helps the next generation of Ukrainian professionals finish their studies. Seeing more than 100 people come together in Warsaw showed us that this community isn’t just growing, it’s ready to act."

The companies involved

TransferGo is a high-growth fintech specialising in cross-border money transfers, particularly serving migrant communities across Europe and beyond. The company operates under an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license granted by the Bank of Lithuania, which was recently expanded to support its evolving product suite. TransferGo has increasingly moved beyond simple remittances, recently launching multi-currency business accounts and expanding its technical infrastructure through partnerships with firms like tell.money and the banking-as-a-service provider Griffin. These collaborations have enabled the firm to offer GBP wallets and savings products, positioning it as a broader financial services provider for both retail and business clients.

UNITED24 is the official fundraising platform of Ukraine, established to consolidate international donations. The platform manages several streams of support, including defence, demining, medical aid, and the Education and Science programme highlighted in this latest campaign. By partnering with established fintech players, UNITED24 integrates charitable giving directly into the financial workflows of the Ukrainian diaspora, moving away from traditional donation models toward transaction-linked philanthropy.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked TransferGo’s strategic expansion and its ongoing commitment to the Ukrainian market. In August 2026, we covered the initial launch of this partnership in TransferGo and UNITED24 Launch 'Transfers That Unite' to Rebuild Ukrainian Vocational Schools. Beyond its philanthropic efforts, the company’s regulatory milestones were noted when the Bank of Lithuania Expands Company’s EMI License, signaling a new stage of growth. Its technical ecosystem has also matured through various integrations; we reported as TransferGo Expands Partnership with tell.money and when TransferGo Teams Up With Griffin for GBP Wallets and Savings.

What this means

This initiative highlights a shift in how fintechs approach Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Rather than passive donations, TransferGo is embedding social impact into the core transaction logic of its platform. By leveraging the "influencer economy" to drive remittance volumes, the company is effectively turning social capital into educational funding. This move puts pressure on traditional money transfer operators to prove their value beyond mere speed and price. For the wider sector, it raises questions about the long-term sustainability of transaction-linked giving and whether such models will become a standard expectation for migrant-focused financial services in volatile regions.
