Quick Summary

Ahead of Sibos 2026 in Miami, Edward Ireland, Product Director at Bottomline, and Natasha Lapierre, who heads innovation and product strategy for financial messaging, give a preview of what Bottomline will be showing. Ireland points to Global Pay Connect, the company's new platform for modernising payments. Lapierre says the theme is moving from talking to doing on innovation, with a proof of concept on interoperability between traditional and digital assets and new AI use cases.

What is Bottomline introducing at Sibos?

Asked why people should come and see Bottomline in Miami, Ireland keeps it simple: Bottomline is introducing Global Pay Connect, its new platform for payments, covering both modernising payments and the company's innovation strategy.

What does "from talking to doing" mean in practice?

Lapierre is careful not to give too much away. Speaking in August, she says there are several announcements coming that she cannot spoil yet. What she can share is that Bottomline is in proof of concept mode to demonstrate seamless interoperability between traditional and digital assets, where the two coexist within the systems banks already use today.

The aim is to make digital asset adoption and interoperability not only seamless but accessible. Lapierre sees barriers not just to banks adopting blockchain technologies, but to banks even experimenting with them. Moving into POC mode is Bottomline's way of lowering that barrier.

Where does AI come in?

Lapierre also teases AI use cases that bring in the front end of the payment journey, with a focus on:

  • Improving straight-through processing (STP)
  • Cross-border payments

She will not reveal the detail before the event, but hints that visitors may get to see a mock-up on her mobile phone demonstrating what Bottomline is doing with AI. Her advice: stay tuned.

FF NEWS TAKE:

"From talking to doing" is a phrase every Sibos exhibitor could use, so the proof will be in what is actually on the stand. The interesting part is the target: not another standalone digital asset platform, but traditional and digital assets working inside the systems banks already run. If Bottomline can show that working, and show AI improving STP rather than just generating demos, it will be one of the more practical conversations in Miami.
