Mark Sawyer has 15+ years of experience in financial services, covering retail & commercial banking, payments, financial planning, foreign exchange and risk management.
In his current role He is accountable for the operations of Catholic Super’s 100% owned bank, MyLife MyFinance, covering product management, distribution, deposit & lending operations, risk & compliance, finance & treasury and technology. Mark Sawyer supports the Executive with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives and plays an active role in engaging with both the bank's Board and regulator, APRA.
Mark Sawyer has a proven ability at developing teams and leading them through complex change initiatives by creating an inclusive and engaging environment. He is also highly effective at developing strong relationships with stakeholders through open and transparent engagement.
In 2018 He was awarded the 2017 FINSIA Australian Young Finance Professional Award, having also been awarded category winner of the Operations Project and Leadership Young Professional of the Year. As overall winner, He was awarded the Hugh DT Williamson scholarship to undertake further professional studies. He served on FINSIA's Victorian Regional Council between 2018-19.
As Chair of The Pinnacle Foundation’s Victorian Committee, He takes a keen interest in supporting the LGBTIQ+ community.
Mark Sawyer holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School and commerce and science degrees from the University of Auckland. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and a Diploma in Project Management.
He is a Chartered Banker, a Fellow of FINSIA, and is a signatory to the Banking and Finance Oath.
He is an experienced executive leader within the financial services industry. His executive roles held throughout the sale and integration of banking businesses have given him a unique perspective on driving strategic initiatives, leading cross-functional teams through complex change, board engagement, and ensuring values alignment.
He has a breadth of executive expertise across distribution, operations, product management, change management, and digital transformation. His experience is further rounded by having worked in both large and small financial institutions.
He is known for his authentic and approachable leadership style, passionately focused on delivering customer-centric outcomes and empowering teams to make banking fairer and simpler. He excels in building strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders through open, transparent, and genuine engagement.
