Déborah Carlson-Burkart is an experienced Board member with a strong background in the technology, insurance, and banking sectors. She specializes in strategic legal, compliance, risk, and corporate governance matters and serves on the Audit & Risk and Regulatory, and chairs the Nomination and Compensation Committee for multiple companies which are in transformation. Déborah's practical guidance has been instrumental in driving the necessary transformation of regulated, listed, and private companies.
Throughout her career, Déborah has provided strategic advice on investigations related to corruption, fraud and money laundering. With a law degree (University of Zurich, Switzerland), the completion of the bar exam (Superior Court Zurich), and a master's degree in corporate finance (LL.M., Duke School of Law, USA), she has held leadership positions in banking, industrial manufacturing, and software industries in Europe and the United States. Déborah has successfully guided companies through transformative processes, particularly in response to regulatory scrutiny.
Certified as a board member (INSEAD) and fluent in four languages, Déborah brings practical expertise and insightful perspectives to the table. She is also a guest lecturer on corporate governance and compliance at the University of St. Gallen and the Swiss Board School.
As a respected expert in international regulatory compliance and governance, Déborah Carlson-Burkart joins the Supervisory Boards of both N26 AG and N26 Bank AG, and chairs the Group’s Nomination Committee. A qualified Swiss lawyer, LL.M. she has a strong track record in both the technology and finance industries and serves on the boards of Swiss aerospace innovator RUAG international and insurer Visana Group, amongst others. She was previously Managing Director and Head Legal at Rothschild Trust Group, Alstom Switzerland and MicroStrategy. She lived, studied and worked in various countries and speaks German, English, French and Italian.
