Why now?

Unparalleled post-Brexit business opportunities, amplified by the UK-Ukraine free trade agreement signed at the end of 2020 have inspired this first UK-UA Fintech Summit — a must-attend event to deep dive into the specifics of British-Ukrainian cooperation.

“The new agreement does not only secure the continuity of trade between Ukraine and the UK, but also creates new opportunities for investment and drives collaboration on emerging technologies, helping companies innovate and grow.

Ukraine’s IT industry has long been among the country’s fastest-growing industries and has truly become a major driving force of economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapid development of fintech in Ukraine can be attributed to a tech-savvy population, coupled with the digital transformation agenda of the Ukrainian Government”, says Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK Vadym Prystaiko.

Why Ukraine?

Ukraine is one of the world’s emerging tech powerhouses. The local IT sector is growing five times faster (25%) than the global average (4-6%). Ukraine has more than 220,000 developers and is considered one of the world’s top outsourcing destinations. Over the past 6 years, domestic startups raised over $2 billion in venture capital investments producing Ukraine’s first three unicorns — Grammarly, GitLab, and airSlate.

According to UAFIC, there are more than 150 fintech companies in Ukraine, almost half of which (47,5%) were founded in the past three years. Half of them (52%) are operating in international markets.

“The Ukrainian fintech industry is maturing and already has a lot to offer to its international partners. This summit is a great way for British companies and thought leaders to get acquainted with our most prominent fintech projects, to reveal new strong business opportunities and to find long-term partners and clients.

Sigma Software supports startups through the Sigma Software Labs business incubator and Inspirium Laboratories VC helping them reach new markets and gain new clients. This Summit is our way of giving Ukrainian fintech startups a chance to present their products on the international stage to TheCityUK, London Stock Exchange Group, TiE London, FinTech Scotland, and other UK financial authorities,” says Valery Krasovsky, CEO and Co-Founder of Sigma Software Group.
