Ingenico SoftPOS Achieves MPOC 1.1 Certification, Paving the Way for Enhanced Payment Solutions

Ingenico, a global leader in payment acceptance and services, has announced that its Ingenico SoftPOS (SDK) is now certified under the latest PCI Mobile Payments on COTS (MPoC) Standard, version 1.1. Ingenico SoftPOS SDK for Android is the first solution to comply with this updated certification, which introduces greater flexibility in how payments are accepted using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices.

The MPoC 1.1 standard introduces support for integrating a Secure Card Reader (SCR) alongside SCRPs and offers a more streamlined and transparent PCI MPoC Solution assessment process. These improvements are expected to significantly reduce both the cost and time our partners spend on compliance assessments.

In response, Ingenico will launch this functionality later this year, featuring support of SCR and SCRP in all our SoftPOS solutions. This high-performance reader can be easily attached to any smartphone, enabling merchants to offer mobile payment acceptance, including chip and pin, as a seamless extension of their existing setup.

Additionally, MPoC 1.1 streamlines the assessment process, saving time and costs for Ingenico’s partners.

Brad Hyett, Global Head of Business Development— SoftPOS at Ingenico, states: “This is really the first PCI standard that aligns and sets out a future vision of SoftPOS software and hardware working together for the benefit of the end user— we think this will be the game changer for SoftPOS adoption within Ingenico’s customer base.”

A Smarter Companion Solution for a Dynamic Payment Landscape

Ingenico SoftPOS is designed to complement existing device estates, offering flexibility and reliability to meet the needs of today’s dynamic payment environments. By equipping merchants to accept payments anywhere, anytime, SoftPOS enhances customer experiences and reduces long checkout queues.

Whether providing extra capacity during peak hours or serving as a resilient assistant when primary terminals are unavailable, SoftPOS ensures uninterrupted service. This device-agnostic solution empowers merchants to remain competitive while adhering to the latest security standards, ensuring peace of mind for all stakeholders.

By achieving the MPOC 1.1 certification, Ingenico reaffirms its commitment to delivering innovative, future-ready payment solutions that meet the evolving demands of vendors, acquirers, ISVs, and merchants.
“We have been waiting some time for this standard as it is perfectly aligned with Ingenico’s vision of “Moving commerce forward.” We can mark this as the starting point in the evolution of SoftPOS shaping the future of payments acceptance.” commented Erik Vlugt – Chief Solutions Officer.
