Maven VCTs invest in Compliance Advisory and RegTech specialist Novatus | Fintech Finance

Maven Capital Partners (“Maven”), one of the UK’s most active investors, has today announced that the Maven VCTs have committed £4 million of investment to Novatus Advisory Limited (“Novatus”).

London headquartered Novatus provides specialised advice to financial services firms to support them in complying with their regulatory obligations, including risk, compliance and ESG programmes. Key to this is Novatus’ RegTech division which develops market leading tools to support firms with complex challenges. The flagship product – the Novatus Transaction Reporting Analysis (“TRA”) tool, enables banks and asset managers to meet their transaction reporting reconciliation requirements in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

The funding from Maven will be used by Novatus to invest further in its team of leading technical advisors, while expanding its sales and marketing resources to support the growth of its RegTech offering. The funding will also support ongoing investment in its TRA tool as the company targets further penetration of the market to help deliver on its ambitious plans.

The business operates in a growing market with clear and compelling growth drivers as financial services organisations are subject to ever increasing and more complex regulatory obligations. The demand for Novatus’s services has grown year-on-year and there is significant bandwidth to grow further within a global market estimated to be worth £18.8 billion per annum.

Alan Robertson, Investment Director at Maven, said: “Novatus represents an excellent opportunity for the Maven VCTs to invest in a profitable business that has delivered impressive year-on-year growth and with a demonstrable track record of supporting leading financial service firms. We can see the significant value that its tech solution offers to clients. Its advisory and consultancy services are already highly rated and trusted by its client base and the Maven investment will provide the resource Novatus needs to continue to provide its high level of service while pursuing sales growth, alongside the continued development of its complementary technology platform.”

Andrew Hedley, Partner and co-founder of Novatus said: “We are incredibly excited to partner with Maven to continue the company’s rapid growth. From an advisory perspective, these funds will be used to grow the business at scale to ensure we continue providing our existing and new clients with the highest levels of service across our core offerings within compliance, ESG and risk.”

Matthew Ranson, Partner and co-founder of Novatus said: “Maven’s investment will enable us to capitalise on the significant growth we are seeing in the RegTech market. Our market leading tools offer cost effective and flexible solutions – designed using our advisory insights – to meet complex regulatory requirements, offering a unique alternative to our peers. We are delighted to partner with Maven, a company that has established a strong track record for investing in the most innovative technology firms.”
