Eastern Bank Foundation Welcomes Miriam Ortiz As Chief Impact Officer

Eastern Bank Foundation Miriam Ortiz has been appointed as Chief Impact Officer, leading efforts in economic mobility and social inclusion. She will be in charge of the Foundation’s impact strategy, which includes community development, learning, and measurement, in this key leadership role.

“Miriam is an expert in all dimensions of our work, from organizational development to evaluation to nonprofit strategy and operations. More important than her knowledge in these areas is her leadership in community change work that has transformed lives,” said Turahn Dorsey, President and CEO of Eastern Bank Foundation. “We’re excited and grateful to have her on the Eastern Bank Foundation team.”

Ms. Ortiz brings over 15 years of cross-sector leadership experience in nonprofit management, training, workforce development and philanthropic strategy. Most recently, she served as Senior Director of Education and Training at Just A Start Corporation, a community development corporation offering community resources, affordable housing and training programs, where she doubled its adult workforce programs and expanded evaluation and measurement capacity. Throughout her career, Ms. Ortiz has held operational leadership roles across the nonprofit sector, including at the Italian Home for Children and Centro Latino Inc., where she focused on programming for underserved communities, with a focus on adult learners and opportunity youth. She currently serves as a Trustee at Roxbury Community College and is an Allocations Committee Member at the Boston’s Women’s Fund. She previously served as an Advisory Board Member of the Cambridge Redevelopment Authority and as a Commissioner of the Massachusetts Future of Work Commission. She is also a co-founder of Stories Inspiring Movement, an immigrant youth-led advocacy organization. Ms. Ortiz holds a Master of Public Policy degree from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bryn Mawr College.

“I’m honored to join the Eastern Bank Foundation team and contribute to its leadership on deep, local community impact as well as advancing economic mobility. My career and work have consistently intersected with the Foundation’s areas of focus on small businesses, housing, workforce development and early childhood development. I’m excited to bring this experience to help sustain and strengthen our impact strategy,” said Miriam Ortiz, Chief Impact Officer of Eastern Bank Foundation. “I look forward to working with our team and many community partners to continue the Foundation’s legacy of creating good across our region.”

Ms. Ortiz succeeds Mr. Dorsey, who previously held the Chief Impact Officer position.

The Eastern Bank Foundation Miriam Ortiz leadership move signals a new phase of strategic impact work to further economic mobility and inclusive growth in the region.
