Wolters Kluwer Collaborates with ApariPro to Support UK Accounting Firms Preparing for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

WHY THIS MATTERS
The UK’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) programme is driving one of the most significant regulatory and operational changes for accounting firms in recent years. As firms prepare for the next phase covering Income Tax, the challenge lies in handling higher volumes of digital submissions while maintaining accuracy and compliance. The collaboration between Wolters Kluwer and ApariPro aims to address this by integrating AI-powered tax preparation technology directly into the CCH iFirm workflow, helping automate data extraction, validation and return preparation.

For accounting practices, automation will be key to scaling operations without increasing staffing costs. By embedding AI into existing cloud accounting platforms, firms can reduce manual processes and free up time for higher-value work such as advisory services and client engagement, while still maintaining professional oversight and control over regulatory submissions.

Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting is collaborating with ApariPro, an AI‑powered tax technology company, to help UK accounting firms prepare for the next phase of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax.

As part of this initiative, Wolters Kluwer will collaborate with ApariPro to bring AI‑powered MTD preparation technology into workflows used by accounting firms operating on CCH iFirm, Wolters Kluwer’s cloud-based accounting software. This will help practices manage growing volumes of tax returns more efficiently by automating data extraction, validation, and preparation tasks, while maintaining accuracy, control, and professional oversight as regulatory requirements evolve.

“MTD for Income Tax represents a significant operational shift for accounting firms,” said Jeffrey Smit, Vice President & Managing Director, Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting – UK, Netherlands & Belgium. “Through our collaboration with ApariPro, we are supporting firms in scaling their MTD processes efficiently while retaining the control and confidence they expect from Wolters Kluwer expert solutions. By reducing manual effort across core compliance processes, we are enabling firms to process higher volumes of returns without increasing resourcing demands, freeing up time for review, advisory services, and client engagement.”

“Working with Wolters Kluwer allows us to bring our AI‑powered MTD software directly into the workflows that many UK firms already trust,” said Sudesh Sud, CEO, ApariPro. “ApariPro removes manual work for firms and their clients, simplifying Making Tax Digital with cutting-edge technology.”

Together, Wolters Kluwer and ApariPro aim to support UK accounting firms as they adapt to MTD for Income Tax, helping them meet growing client demands at scale while continuing to deliver high‑quality, trusted services.

FF NEWS TAKE
MTD is accelerating the digital transformation of the accounting profession, pushing firms to adopt automation and cloud-native tools to keep pace with regulatory change.

Partnerships like this highlight how AI is being positioned as a practical solution for compliance-heavy workflows. The firms that succeed in the MTD era will likely be those that combine automation with strong oversight—using technology to handle routine preparation while focusing human expertise on review, strategy and client relationships.
