Unchained Summit India Debuts in Mumbai as Capital, Markets and Web3 Converge
By Georgia Stubbs · 7 September 2026

Unchained Summit will debut in Mumbai on 5–6 November 2026, marking a significant expansion into India’s high-growth digital asset market. For fintech professionals, the event bridges the gap between India’s top-ranked crypto adoption rates and its cautious regulatory environment, offering a critical platform for institutional dialogue on tokenisation and market infrastructure.
What was announced
The third edition of the Unchained Summit, following previous events in Dubai and Vietnam, will take place in Mumbai to connect global blockchain companies and technology leaders with India’s domestic financial ecosystem. The summit arrives as India holds the top position in the 2025 Chainalysis Global Crypto Adoption Index, despite a complex regulatory landscape. The event is designed for a broad range of participants, including wealth managers, family offices, financial institutions, and the country's massive developer community.
The two-day programme is split into distinct thematic tracks. Day One focuses on Markets, Finance, and Digital Assets, covering topics such as regulation and policy, trading, real-world asset tokenisation, stablecoins, and custody. Day Two shifts toward Web3, Infrastructure, and Emerging Technology, targeting founders and builders with discussions on AI, DeFi, scaling, and interoperability. This focus aligns with India’s status as the world's second-largest developer community on GitHub, which added more than 5.2 million developers in 2025 to reach a total of 21.9 million.
The confirmed speaker lineup features prominent industry figures including S B Seker at Binance, Ashish Singhal at CoinSwitch, and Roshan Prabhakar at Coinbase. Other participants include representatives from Base, Ondo Finance, Ethereal Ventures, and the Bharat Web3 Association. The event also highlights the Reserve Bank of India’s ongoing exploration of asset tokenisation through its CBDC sandbox and the National Blockchain Framework, reflecting a growing enterprise interest in blockchain-based infrastructure.
"India is a crown jewel for Binance in terms of impact, not just scale. With deep digital penetration and a young, tech-savvy population, it is a market unmatched globally for meaningful blockchain adoption and innovation."
S B Seker, Head of APAC at Binance.
The companies involved
The summit is organised by Aeternum, a firm based at aeternum.ch that focuses on connecting global digital asset ecosystems. Among the key participants is Binance, a global cryptocurrency exchange that operates at binance.com and has recently expanded its technical footprint through developer-focused platforms. CoinSwitch Kuber, operating at coinswitch.co, represents the domestic Indian retail interest as one of the country's prominent digital asset platforms.
Institutional and infrastructure perspectives are provided by firms like Alchemy, a developer platform found at trustalchemy.com, and Parity Technologies. The event also features participation from Coinbase, the US-listed exchange, and Base, its incubated Layer 2 network. Regulatory and legal context is supported by the Bharat Web3 Association and the law firm Trilegal. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the nation's central bank, remains a pivotal figure in the background of the summit, having established a CBDC sandbox to test the viability of programmable money and tokenised assets within the traditional financial system. Other involved entities include Monarq Asset Management, Sigma Capital, and the data platform Chainalysis.

What this means
The arrival of a major international summit in Mumbai signals a shift in how the global industry views India—moving from a retail-heavy market to a hub for institutional infrastructure. While the RBI remains conservative regarding retail crypto, its interest in CBDCs and tokenisation suggests that the "plumbing" of Indian finance is being modernised. This puts pressure on traditional Indian banks to accelerate their digital asset strategies or risk being bypassed by the country's massive developer talent pool. The central question for the sector is whether India can reconcile its leadership in adoption with a regulatory framework that currently prioritises risk mitigation over market expansion.
