Singularity Financial Partners has launched as a dedicated operating company for Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), aiming to bridge the gap between technology provision and business execution. By taking ownership stakes and embedding operational experts directly into firms, the company addresses a critical bottleneck for independent practices that have outgrown their founders' ability to manage complex day-to-day operations.

What was announced

Singularity Financial Partners, founded in February, distinguishes itself from traditional software vendors, plugins, and aggregators. Unlike typical aggregators that buy firms but leave management untouched, Singularity takes an ownership position through capital, operating work, or both, to actively run the business. The firm has already completed its first transactions and is currently active within those partner organizations, embedding its own staff to improve hiring, growth, and technology utilization.

The service is specifically designed for established independent practices that have reached a scale where principals are overwhelmed by the "operator gap"—the need to coordinate system migrations, service-model redesigns, and succession planning without the resources of a large enterprise. To support this, Singularity utilizes a proprietary interface and agent framework that orchestrates data from custodians and third-party tools. This system is designed to capture the "human IP" of a firm, ensuring that the decision-making processes of experienced practitioners are preserved within the firm's operating model, even as software vendors change.

The timing of the launch aligns with a significant demographic shift identified by Cerulli, noting that 35% of advisors representing 40% of industry assets are expected to retire within the next decade. Singularity’s model seeks to institutionalize the knowledge of these firms before these veterans exit. By embedding its own staff into the firms, Singularity handles business development and technology full-time, allowing advisors to focus exclusively on client relationships. The firm's data layer sits on the Data Lakehouse from Invent, the wealth data company founded and led by Oleg Tishkevich.

"Most advisory firms were built by exceptional advisors who never set out to be operators. They can see the growth. They cannot reach it, because the technology, the hiring and the operations all land on the same few people. Every good firm will be efficient in three years. Efficiency is the price of admission, not the prize. The prize is growth. We come in as owners, not vendors, and we build the firm around the people who built it."

The companies involved

Singularity Financial Partners enters the market led by a team with deep roots in fintech and enterprise infrastructure. CEO and Co-Founder Michael Roth previously co-founded RetireUp, a retirement planning software that was later acquired by the Motive Partners-backed platform now known as InvestCloud. During his tenure at InvestCloud, Roth served as Chief Product Officer and Chief Revenue Officer of Digital Wealth. Singularity marks the fourth company Roth has founded.

Co-founder Oleg Tishkevich brings expertise from Finance Logix, a financial planning platform he founded and sold to Envestnet, where he subsequently served as Chief Technology Officer of Financial Planning. Tishkevich is also the founder and CEO of Invent, a cloud-native wealth data platform and three-time Inc. 5000 honoree. Singularity’s technical infrastructure is underpinned by Invent’s Data Lakehouse, providing a cloud-native foundation for its operations.

The leadership team is rounded out by Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder Jim Zimmerman. Zimmerman’s background includes significant roles at Red Hat and Microsoft, where he led Azure Red Hat OpenShift and developed cloud and AI infrastructure for Fortune 500 companies. He also serves as Chief AI Officer of Invent, establishing the governance and security standards used by Singularity. The firm leverages industry relationships including custodians, asset managers, and insurers.

What this means

This launch signals a maturation of the RIA market, moving from a period of rapid software adoption to one of operational consolidation. The "operator gap" is a genuine threat to the valuations of independent firms; as the first generation of founders nears retirement, the lack of institutionalized processes makes these businesses difficult to transition or sell. By moving beyond the vendor-client relationship into an ownership-based operating model, Singularity puts pressure on traditional aggregators who may offer capital but lack the technical and human resources to modernize a firm’s internal engine. The industry is watching to see if this "embedded operator" model can scale without diluting the personal touch that defines independent wealth management.
