MNT-Halan has secured over EGP 4 billion through three successful securitization issuances for its subsidiaries, Halan Consumer Finance and Tasaheel for Finance. This major capital injection strengthens the Egyptian fintech’s liquidity position, allowing it to scale its lending operations and broaden financial inclusion across the region’s most populous market.

What was announced

The securitization program consists of three distinct transactions designed to diversify MNT-Halan’s funding sources and support its lending capacity. The first issuance, valued at EGP 528.5 million, was designated for Halan Consumer Finance. The remaining two issuances, totaling EGP 3.48 billion, were allocated to Tasaheel for Finance, with individual values of EGP 1.2 billion and EGP 2.28 billion. All three issuances feature a 13-month tenor and were structured as a single tranche. Middle East Rating & Investors Service (MERIS) assigned an “A-” credit rating to the issuances, a grade that reflects the perceived strength and quality of the underlying loan portfolios.

This capital will be deployed to support the continued expansion of MNT-Halan’s financing activities throughout Egypt, where it currently operates more than 1,200 distribution points across 25 governorates. These points of presence include a mix of dedicated branches, merchant locations, mall outlets, and seasonal outlets. The transaction was facilitated by a consortium of investment banking advisors, including CI Capital and Al Ahly Pharos. Legal counsel was provided by Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy (MBH), while Baker Tilly served as the auditor for the deal. Capital for Securitization acted as the securitization company for the transactions, marking another milestone in MNT-Halan’s established track record within the Egyptian securitization market.

The companies involved

Founded in 2018, MNT-Halan has evolved into a dominant force in the Egyptian fintech landscape, operating a diversified financial services platform. The company provides a broad suite of over 19 products, ranging from consumer and business financing to payments, prepaid cards, and investment services, all accessible through the Halan app. MNT-Halan’s regulatory standing is comprehensive; its various group entities hold licenses for microfinance, SME lending, consumer finance, and nanofinance. Additionally, the firm possesses licenses for mortgage services, factoring, brokerage, and the subscription and redemption of investment fund units from the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).

The group also operates the Halan Cash Wallet in partnership with Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) and offers prepaid card services through the Arab African International Bank (AAIB). One of its key subsidiaries, Tasaheel, has been recognized for its operational standards, receiving the Bronze “Client Protection” certificate from the MFR Global Rating Agency. Al Ahly Pharos, which served as an investment banking advisor for the securitization, is a prominent financial services firm in the region. Together, these entities facilitate MNT-Halan’s mission to provide inclusive financial solutions by blending advanced technology with localized market insights.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed MNT-Halan’s rapid international and technological expansion. In March 2025, we reported that MNT-Halan Receives FRA Approval to Implement E-KYC and Digital Contracts in Egypt, a move that streamlined its digital onboarding process. This followed the company’s regional growth, including when MNT-Halan Lands in the UAE: Driving Expansion of Its Financial Super App Across the Region in late 2024. Earlier that year, the firm made a significant move into the European and Middle Eastern crossroads as MNT-Halan Expands Into Turkey With the 100% Acquisition of Market-Leading Finance Company Tam Finans.

What this means

This EGP 4 billion securitization signals a maturing Egyptian fintech ecosystem where leading players can access sophisticated capital market instruments despite broader macroeconomic headwinds. By converting loan portfolios into liquid assets, MNT-Halan is effectively insulating its growth from traditional credit constraints. This move puts significant pressure on smaller, less-regulated competitors who lack the scale or credit rating to tap into institutional funding. However, the reliance on securitization raises questions about the long-term stability of consumer credit quality in Egypt. As the sector continues to consolidate, the ability to maintain an "A-" rating while scaling rapidly will be the primary benchmark for success.
