TransUnion UK & Europe has overhauled its regional leadership with four senior appointments across revenue, data, operations, and human resources. These strategic moves, effective throughout September and October 2026, aim to accelerate the firm’s credit and fraud propositions while managing a transition as several long-standing executives move into global international roles.

What was announced

The leadership changes include the promotion of Steve Wishart to chief revenue officer for TransUnion’s UK business, effective 1 October 2026. Wishart, who has spent over 12 years at the company, previously served as director of sales for financial services and held leadership positions at Morgan Stanley and MBNA. In his new capacity, he will lead the UK sales and sales specialist teams, leveraging his background in fraud prevention and the wider financial services sector.

Mahesh Bharadhwaj joined as chief data and analytics officer for the UK & Europe on 21 September 2026. With over 20 years of experience in credit risk and commercial strategy, Bharadhwaj most recently served as chief analytics officer at Jaja Finance. His career includes tenures at Funding Circle, Barclaycard, and Capital One. He succeeds Praneeth Meka, who has been promoted to the role of chief data and analytics officer for TransUnion’s International business.

Ashley Hart took over as chief operating officer for the UK & Europe on 7 September 2026. Hart brings experience from Monzo Bank, TSB Bank, and Flutter Entertainment. He replaces Laura Barley, who was promoted to vice president, head of customer experience transformation in TransUnion’s International operations.

Finally, Catherine Diamond joined as chief human resources officer for the UK & Europe on 14 September 2026. Diamond’s 20-year background includes serving as chief people officer at Tandem Bank and holding senior roles at Lloyds Banking Group. She succeeds Kaushik Gopalan, who is returning to India while remaining a consultant for the firm.

"As TransUnion continues to drive growth and transformation across its UK and Europe region, I’m delighted to welcome such an exceptional group of talented executives to our leadership team. These appointments, alongside several other recent additions, represent the next generation of leadership that will guide us with purpose as we advance our mission of Information for Good. Their expertise will help accelerate the growth of our credit, fraud and marketing propositions, while sharpening our focus on delivering even greater value to clients,"

Madhu Kejriwal, chief executive officer of TransUnion UK and Europe.

The companies involved

TransUnion UK is a major player in the credit reporting and data insights sector, operating as a key subsidiary of the global TransUnion parent company. As one of the primary credit reference agencies in the region, the firm provides the underlying data infrastructure that powers lending decisions, identity verification, and fraud prevention for thousands of businesses across the United Kingdom and Europe.

The company’s market position is defined by its ability to process vast quantities of consumer and commercial data to provide actionable insights. While historically known for credit scoring, the business has diversified significantly into fraud prevention and marketing analytics. The UK and Europe division serves as a critical hub for the wider group, often acting as a testing ground for new data products before they are scaled internationally. This regional importance is reflected in the recent trend of UK-based executives being elevated to global roles within the TransUnion International structure, necessitating a robust internal succession plan to maintain operational stability and market competitiveness against other major data providers.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely monitored TransUnion’s efforts to modernize the credit assessment landscape. In June 2026, we reported that TransUnion UK Launches Modelled Income Assessment to Solve Affordability Data Gaps. This initiative was designed to provide lenders with a more accurate picture of consumer finances by using advanced modeling to fill in missing income data, particularly for those with thin credit files.

This previous coverage highlights the company's ongoing focus on data precision and affordability, a theme that aligns with the appointment of Mahesh Bharadhwaj as the new chief data and analytics officer. The launch of the Modelled Income Assessment tool demonstrated the firm's commitment to using alternative data and sophisticated analytics to help financial institutions navigate a complex economic environment where traditional credit metrics may not capture a consumer's full financial situation.

What this means

This leadership refresh suggests TransUnion is bracing for a more aggressive competitive phase in the UK and European markets. By hiring executives with deep roots in "challenger" institutions like Monzo, Jaja, and Tandem, the firm is signaling a shift away from purely traditional credit agency mindsets toward a more agile, fintech-centric approach. This puts immediate pressure on rivals to prove they can match this level of operational and analytical talent. The primary question for the sector is whether this "next generation" of leadership can successfully balance the rigid requirements of regulated credit reporting with the rapid innovation demanded by the modern fintech ecosystem, especially as data privacy and AI governance become central industry concerns.
