PicPay Integrates With Anthropic’s Claude to Expand Conversational AI Financial Services
By Lauren Towner · 7 September 2026

PicPay has integrated Anthropic’s Claude AI into its ecosystem, allowing customers to access financial data through natural-language commands. This move, following a similar OpenAI integration, signals a shift toward "headless" banking, where fintech users interact with their accounts via third-party AI interfaces rather than traditional banking apps, prioritizing conversational convenience and real-time data accessibility.
What was announced
PicPay announced the integration of Claude from Anthropic to expand its presence in the generative artificial intelligence ecosystem. This follows the bank's recent launch of a plugin on OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The new feature allows users to query their financial information directly within the Claude interface using natural language after authenticating securely within the PicPay environment.
The integration is available to both Android and iOS users and is free of charge, regardless of the user’s Claude subscription tier. Access is being managed through a gradual rollout via an early-access list. To connect, customers find PicPay under the “Connectors” tab in Claude and follow authentication steps. This process directs users to PicPay’s online banking login, which utilizes facial biometric authentication, meaning the physical app does not need to be installed on the device to facilitate the connection.
Available features include checking account and savings balances, viewing outstanding bills, monitoring investments, and accessing favorite Pix contacts. Claude also introduces two capabilities that will soon be available through the ChatGPT plugin: checking credit card statement balances and viewing completed credit card transactions. Users can ask specific questions like “What is my available balance?” or “Do I have any bills due this week?”
Currently, the integration is dedicated to inquiries and financial monitoring. It does not support transactions or other financial operations through the Claude platform. All data exchanges follow PicPay’s security standards, with data processed in accordance with applicable laws and the company’s privacy policies.
"As many of our customers take advantage of the leading generative AI platforms in their daily lives, we are focused on connecting PicPay with these ecosystems to create a more seamless financial experience. PicPay has always placed innovation at the center of our growth strategy, as we capitalize on opportunities where technology can help us operate more efficiently and deliver even better service for customers. Our strong standards for customer data protection will continue to underpin the innovative products we bring to market."

The companies involved
PicPay is one of the largest digital banks in Brazil, positioning itself as a central hub for financial services through its mobile-first platform. The company provides a wide range of services including digital accounts, credit cards, and investment products, often focusing on social payment features and the Pix instant payment system. It has historically prioritized technological innovation to drive customer growth in the competitive Latin American fintech market.
Anthropic, the developer of Claude, is an artificial intelligence safety and research company. Claude is its primary AI assistant, designed to be helpful, honest, and harmless. The integration with PicPay utilizes Claude’s ability to process complex queries and interact with external data sources through secure connectors, a feature increasingly sought after by financial institutions looking to leverage large language models.
OpenAI, which PicPay also partners with, is the creator of ChatGPT. OpenAI has been a significant player in the generative AI space, and its plugin architecture has allowed financial institutions to experiment with conversational banking. While PicPay maintains its own proprietary app environment, these partnerships with Anthropic and OpenAI indicate a strategy of meeting customers on the platforms they already use for daily productivity and information gathering.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely monitored the intersection of generative AI and financial services as institutions move beyond simple chatbots toward integrated AI agents. We recently covered how HoneyBook Launches MCP Integration Connecting Small Business CRM Data to AI Assistants, which similarly utilized Claude as a connector for managing client pipelines and invoices.
The industry-wide push for AI utility is further evidenced by Rocket Money Launches Rowan: The AI Agent That Negotiates Bills and Cancels Subscriptions via Text, highlighting a trend toward autonomous financial management. Additionally, the security implications of these technologies remain a priority, as seen when Visa Expands AI Cybersecurity Tools and Advisory to Accelerate Threat Remediation. What this means
This announcement signals that the "app-only" era of digital banking is facing a challenge from conversational interfaces. By allowing Claude to pull real-time data, PicPay is acknowledging that the primary user interface for finance may eventually migrate to general-purpose AI assistants. This puts pressure on traditional banks that rely on their proprietary apps to drive cross-selling and engagement. The move raises critical questions about data sovereignty and the long-term role of the banking UI. If customers can manage their entire financial life through a third-party AI, the bank risks becoming a commoditized back-end utility, losing direct control over the customer journey and the valuable real estate of the smartphone screen.
