Nubank is intensifying its push into the high-income segment by leveraging a high-profile partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. The new campaign, starring actor and racing driver Patrick Dempsey, positions the "Ultravioleta" experience as a precision-engineered financial service, signaling a strategic shift in how digital banks compete for affluent customers through performance-based branding.

What was announced

Nubank Ultravioleta has launched a new multi-channel campaign on October 29, 2026, featuring actor, philanthropist, and professional racing driver Patrick Dempsey. Developed by the Nubank Creative Hub in collaboration with production company Stink, the campaign uses the world of elite motorsport to draw parallels between racing precision and high-end financial management. The lead film depicts a driver navigating a sophisticated slot-car track built in real-time, supported by the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, mirroring the bank’s proposition of anticipating customer needs.

The campaign highlights Nubank Ultravioleta as a comprehensive account specifically designed for high-income customers. Key features emphasized in the rollout include 24/7 human support and personalized investment analyses and recommendations. The initiative extends beyond a single film; it includes behind-the-scenes content with Dempsey and a second film featuring Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team drivers Kimi Antonelli and George Russell. The campaign is scheduled to run across broadcast and pay TV, digital platforms, streaming services, and social media.

As part of the activation, Nubank is hosting an immersive experience called "Nubank House" at Nubank Parque from November 4 to 8. This event will feature an official replica of the Mercedes-AMG W17 E Performance car, historical racing items, simulators, and pit-stop challenges. The bank expects an audience of more than 20,000 people for the event, with admission exclusive to Nubank customers via the Sympla platform.

"Motorsport is about much more than speed. It is also about precision and the trust between the driver and the team supporting them. When all the details are under control, you can be present, enjoy the moment and go further. That is what made this campaign with Nubank Ultravioleta interesting to me: it brings the energy and aspirational spirit of the sport to a story about a financial experience that helps people make the most of life,"

says Patrick Dempsey.

The companies involved

Nubank, operating under Nu Holdings Ltd., is one of the world’s largest digital financial services platforms. Originally known for its disruptive purple credit card in Brazil, the company has expanded its ecosystem to include savings, investments, and insurance. It has a significant presence across Latin America, including operations in Mexico and Colombia. The Ultravioleta brand represents Nubank’s dedicated tier for high-income users, moving the company into direct competition with traditional private banking institutions by offering premium benefits and specialized support.

The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is the works team of Mercedes-Benz, competing at the pinnacle of motorsport. Based in the United Kingdom, the team is recognized for its engineering excellence and has become a frequent partner for global technology and financial firms seeking to associate with high-performance standards. The team’s involvement in this campaign follows a broader trend of Formula 1 entities integrating with fintech brands to reach tech-savvy, affluent demographics. This partnership specifically links the technical "behind-the-scenes" support of a pit crew to the automated and human support systems of a modern digital bank.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely followed Nubank’s rapid expansion and its recent leadership transitions. We recently reported that Nubank CTO Eric Young to Step Down; CEO David Vélez to Lead Tech Transition, marking a pivotal moment for the company’s technical strategy. In the regional market, we covered how Nu Mexico Launches Score Nu to Empower 16 Million Users with Credit Insights, demonstrating the bank's scale in North America. Additionally, the bank has been fortifying its infrastructure, as seen when Nubank Partners with Cardamon to Scale AI-Driven Regulatory Compliance Globally. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has also been active in the sector; we recently noted that Stripe Becomes Official Global Payments Partner for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, highlighting the team's growing ties to the payments industry.

What this means

This campaign signals that the "neobank" era of simple customer acquisition is evolving into a sophisticated battle for high-net-worth loyalty. By aligning with the prestige of Formula 1 and a global figure like Patrick Dempsey, Nubank is attempting to transition from a mass-market disrupter to a premium lifestyle brand. This move puts traditional retail banks under pressure, as digital-native players prove they can offer the "white-glove" service—such as 24/7 human support—that was previously the exclusive domain of legacy private banking. The central question for the industry is whether affluent users will migrate their primary wealth management to a digital platform, or if these high-end offerings will remain secondary to traditional institutions.
