Okta Launches AI-Powered Identity Governance and Zero Standing Privilege Tools to Secure AI Workloads

Okta has introduced a suite of updates to its Identity Governance and Privileged Access platforms, integrating new threat detection capabilities following its acquisition of Permiso Security. For fintech leaders, these tools address the growing security risks of AI adoption by automating compliance and eliminating static permissions that frequently lead to credential-based breaches.

The updates target three core areas: governance, privileged access, and integration speed. Within Okta Identity Governance (OIG), the company is launching Advanced Entitlement Management for AWS to track permissions across developers and AI agents. It is also introducing Intelligent Request Recommendations for Slack and ServiceNow, alongside Automated Drift Detection to identify unapproved access changes and revoke rogue permissions in real time.

To accelerate deployment, Okta is debuting 48-Hour Integrations. By utilizing AI, the company can now build new integrations for its catalog of more than 8,000 pre-built apps in as little as two days, a significant reduction from the previous manual process that typically took two to three months. This automation is already showing results for users like Ashley Taylor at Instructure, who noted that access campaign work that previously took two people a full month now takes one person a single day.

On the security front, Okta Privileged Access (OPA) has been expanded with Unified Database Security for servers and SaaS accounts, and Dynamic Kubernetes Protection to secure autoscaling applications.
