Sokin Unveils MCP Connector to Power AI-Driven Financial Operations and Payments
By Lauren Towner · 14 September 2026

Sokin has launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector, linking its global payment infrastructure directly to AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude. This allows finance teams to execute complex treasury tasks and cross-border payments through conversational interfaces, marking a significant shift toward agentic workflows where AI handles the heavy lifting of financial operations.
What was announced
The launch of the Sokin MCP connector represents a move from passive data retrieval to active financial execution within Large Language Models (LLMs). The connector is compatible with major AI platforms including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. It allows authorized users to perform a variety of high-level treasury functions without leaving their AI chat interface, such as generating live cash position estimates or preparing international payments for approval.
Functionally, the MCP connector enables an AI agent to create new beneficiaries, retrieve real-time foreign exchange quotes between supported Sokin wallets, and prepare currency exchanges. It can also find existing beneficiaries or validate new beneficiary details against specific payment route requirements. In a corporate setting, the AI tool assembles the full instruction and presents the details to the user. Execution only occurs after a human confirms the action, ensuring that the instruction follows the customer’s pre-configured approval rules and internal governance flows.
During the testing phase, Sokin reported that the MCP connector successfully processed 10 multi-currency invoices and treasury moves in less than 10 minutes. This speed suggests a significant reduction in the manual labor typically associated with accounts payable teams keying in data. The system relies on Sokin’s underlying licensed infrastructure, which spans 36 countries and facilitates money movement to more than 170 countries in over 70 currencies. While the interface is new, the settlement occurs on the proprietary rails Sokin is licensed to operate.
"Our MCP reaches the tools that create a beneficiary, quote an exchange rate and prepare a payment. The ability to give an agent real work is what is going to save our customers a lot of time and what they are going to love most about this."

The companies involved
Sokin is a global financial platform designed to power how businesses transact and optimize capital. Led by Vroon Modgill, Founder & CEO, and Pete Daunton, Chief Strategy Officer, the company has positioned itself as a provider of deep financial infrastructure rather than just a front-end service. This infrastructure-first approach is evidenced by its licensing footprint across 36 countries, allowing it to maintain control over the settlement process for the 70+ currencies it supports.
The firm has been active in expanding its reach through strategic integrations and product launches. This includes a partnership with Adyen to provide a unified solution for ecommerce payments and treasury operations for businesses in the United States. Sokin has also moved into the digital asset space, launching stablecoin capabilities to create a hybrid finance platform that unifies fiat and digital assets. By offering access through a traditional portal, embedded APIs, and now the MCP connector, Sokin is diversifying how corporate clients interact with its global payment rails, moving beyond traditional banking interfaces to meet users where they conduct their digital operations.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely followed Sokin’s growth and infrastructure expansion. In July 2026, we reported that Sokin reaches $90 million Net Revenue as founder discloses financials for the first time, a milestone that coincided with the company’s initial teases of its agentic finance roadmap. Earlier that same month, the company expanded its domestic offering as Sokin Launches Unified Checkout and Payment Links for UK Businesses.
Our coverage also includes Sokin’s major moves in the North American market, such as when Sokin and Adyen Partner to Give US Businesses a Single Solution for Ecommerce Payments and Treasury Operations in April 2026. Additionally, the company’s push into digital currency was highlighted when Sokin Launches Stablecoin Capabilities to Provide Hybrid Finance Platform Unifying Digital Assets and Fiat in March 2026, signaling its intent to bridge legacy and modern financial rails.
What this means
This announcement signals a shift in the fintech landscape from "read-only" AI integrations to "actionable" agentic workflows. For years, AI in finance has been relegated to data visualization and chatbots that act as glorified search bars. By opening licensed payment rails to the Model Context Protocol, Sokin is challenging the industry to move toward execution-based AI. This puts significant pressure on legacy banking institutions whose closed, siloed systems are inherently incompatible with the open-standard nature of LLM connectors. The primary hurdle for the sector now shifts from technical capability to regulatory and security trust: can the industry maintain rigorous AML and fraud standards when the primary interface for a payment is a third-party AI agent?
