Quick Summary

Lurra Capital has invested $7 million in stablecoin banking platform LurraPay to scale its multi-currency virtual accounts and hardware wallet. The platform integrates USDC and EURC with MoonPay rails, providing high-net-worth individuals and businesses with a secure, self-custody solution for seamless fiat-to-crypto transitions and cross-border wealth management.

How Does LurraPay Simplify Global Stablecoin Banking?

LurraPay functions as a unified bridge between traditional finance and digital assets. By offering stablecoin banking platform capabilities, it allows users to manage EUR, USD, and GBP virtual accounts alongside USDC and EURC. This eliminates the friction typically found in cross-border wealth management, enabling instant movement between fiat and crypto.

  • Multi-currency support for EUR, USD, and GBP accounts.
  • Seamless on-ramp/off-ramp services powered by MoonPay’s global infrastructure.
  • Institutional-grade access to licensed fiat-to-stablecoin liquidity.

The platform is designed to serve as a default settlement layer for sophisticated investors who require the speed of blockchain with the familiarity of traditional banking interfaces.

What Makes the LurraPay Hardware Wallet Unique?

The upcoming LurraPay hardware wallet, scheduled for a September 2026 launch, introduces a paradigm shift in hardware-native self-custody. Unlike traditional wallets that require USB cables or companion apps, this device is entirely self-contained, utilizing advanced Nordic Semiconductor chips for secure, wireless transaction signing.

  • PSA Certified Level 3 design using Arm TrustZone isolation.
  • No companion app or laptop required due to integrated Wi-Fi handling.
  • Broad asset support covering over 500 coins across 50+ different chains.

"We built the wallet around two Nordic Semiconductor chips. The nRF54L15 secure core stores the private keys and signs every transaction. Keys are generated and sealed inside that chip, and they never leave it. It uses Arm TrustZone isolation and is designed to meet PSA Certified Level 3. The second chip, an nRF7002, handles Wi-Fi, which is why there is no USB cable, no companion app, and no paired laptop. The device is designed and assembled in the European Union from non-Chinese components, and it supports more than 500 coins across more than 50 chains," said Edward Nastase, CTO of LurraPay.

Why is Lurra Capital Backing This Technology?

Lurra Capital, led by Tyron Birkmeir, views the stablecoin banking platform as a critical evolution in the fintech stack. By combining licensed financial rails with sovereign hardware, LurraPay addresses the primary security concerns of institutional and high-net-worth clients who are wary of third-party custody risks.

"Stablecoin infrastructure is becoming the default settlement layer for cross-border wealth management. LurraPay gives institutional and high-net-worth clients licensed fiat-to-stablecoin access alongside hardware-native self-custody that does not require trusting a third party with private keys. That security combination does not exist as single product before today which is why we are so excited. Edward is an incredible engineer and we are privileged to have this opportunity to partner" said Tyron Birkmeir

FF NEWS TAKE:

The $7 million backing from Lurra Capital definitely moves the needle for the digital asset sector. While many firms offer stablecoin accounts, the integration of a bespoke hardware wallet built on Nordic Semiconductor architecture sets LurraPay apart. By removing the "middleman" risk of third-party custody while maintaining banking-grade fiat rails, they are solving the trust gap that has long hindered institutional stablecoin adoption. This is a sophisticated play for the high-net-worth market.
