Birmingham-based fintech Lovey has relocated to a 23,146 sq. ft headquarters at Three Snowhill, marking a significant expansion for the bootstrapped SME lender. The move signals a shift in the UK’s financial landscape, proving that high-growth fintech enterprises can successfully scale and attract talent outside the traditional London hub while maintaining profitability.

What was announced

The relocation to Three Snowhill, one of Birmingham’s largest office buildings, is designed to support Lovey’s objective of more than doubling its current headcount. The firm intends to reach up to 300 roles over the next five years, expanding from its current team of 120. The new facility occupies a 23,146 sq. ft floor featuring 13 meeting rooms named after Birmingham landmarks, a mindfulness room, a podcast studio, and a Sky Lounge overlooking the Jewellery Quarter. Employees also gain access to the building’s broader amenities, including an on-site gym and saunas.

The expansion follows a period of rapid financial growth. Lovey’s revenue increased from £1.87 million in 2022 to £19.07 million in 2025, representing an absolute growth rate of 919.84% and a compound annual growth rate of 116.86%. To date, the company has funded over £600 million in loans to more than 11,000 UK SMEs. This performance saw Lovey ranked as the top fintech and financial services company in the Financial Times’ UK Fastest-Growing Companies 2027 list.

A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on 20th October, led by Founder and CEO Jack Smith. The event included representatives from local government and regional partners, including Councillor Roger Harmer, Leader of Birmingham City Council, and Chris Lawes, Strategic Lead for Tech & Services at West Midlands Growth Company. The full team is scheduled to complete the move into the BREEAM “Excellent” rated building on 9th November.

"As a Brummie, moving into Three Snowhill means a great deal to me. Lovey was born in Birmingham and being named the UK's fastest-growing fintech and financial services company by the Financial Times and Statista, as a business built outside London, shows what this city is capable of. Three Snowhill gives us room to keep growing in support of our mission to make business lending simple, fast and beautiful, and we're only just getting started."

The companies involved

Lovey is a UK-based fintech and financial services provider that specialises in lending and brokerage for small and medium-sized enterprises. Since its inception in 2016 by Jack Smith, the company has remained notably bootstrapped, doubling its profits year-on-year without traditional venture capital backing. The firm underwent a significant rebranding in early 2026 to better reflect its evolving market position and growth phase.

The West Midlands Growth Company has acted as a regional partner, supporting Lovey’s presence within the Birmingham business district. Other key contributors to the new headquarters include Carter Jonas, which advised on the property strategy and secured the Three Snowhill site, and Overbury PLC, which managed the interior fit-out. Three Snowhill itself is a landmark 420,000 sq. ft development in Birmingham’s business district, known for its high sustainability ratings and transport connectivity. The project highlights a collaborative effort between regional growth agencies and private sector partners to retain high-performing tech firms within the West Midlands.

What FF News has reported before

FF News has closely tracked Lovey’s trajectory, particularly its recent efforts to secure capital and enhance its technological infrastructure. In October 2026, the company announced it had secured a £250m credit facility from Pollen Street Capital to further boost its SME lending capacity. This followed a series of strategic integrations, including integrating Funding Circle’s API in April 2026 and integrating the iwoca API in late 2025 to streamline customer efficiency. The firm’s current identity was established in January 2026, when Love Finance renamed to Lovey, a move that signalled the start of its current rapid growth phase.

What this means

This expansion is a clear indicator that the UK’s fintech sector is no longer exclusively London-centric. Lovey’s ability to scale a bootstrapped lending business to this size puts pressure on venture-backed competitors who often struggle with profitability in the SME space. By doubling down on its Birmingham roots, the company is tapping into a regional talent pool that is increasingly attractive as office costs in the capital remain prohibitive. However, the move also raises questions about the broader SME lending market; as Lovey scales its physical presence and credit facilities, the industry will be watching to see if demand from UK small businesses can sustain such aggressive growth targets amidst fluctuating interest rates and economic uncertainty.
