Mexico-based B2B financial institution Kapital has secured $125 million in new financing to scale its AI-driven platform across the United States and Latin America. For fintech professionals, this move signals a maturing market for AI-integrated financial services that bridge the gap between traditional regulated infrastructure and sophisticated data analytics for small and medium-sized enterprises.

What was announced

Kapital has closed a $125 million financing round co-led by Tru Arrow Partners and Fasanara Capital. The round also saw participation from Cervin Ventures, Niya Partners, and Overlook Capital. This capital injection is earmarked for accelerating product innovation and deepening the company’s investment in its proprietary AI platform and data analytics suite. The primary geographic focus for this expansion includes Mexico and the United States, with further reach into Latin American and European markets.

The announcement follows a period of rapid scaling for the institution. In September 2025, Kapital achieved a valuation of more than $1.3 billion following a $110 million Series C round, marking its status as Mexico’s first AI unicorn. Currently, the company serves over 350,000 customers. The new funding arrives on the heels of strong second-quarter results for 2026, which the company reports showed significant growth and maintained cost discipline. Kapital’s ecosystem currently spans Mexico, Colombia, Spain, and the United States, offering a suite of services that includes credit management, cash flow tools, and brokerage services through its fund management business. By leveraging AI, the firm aims to provide smaller businesses with the operational and financial advantages typically reserved for large-scale corporations.

"Kapital is solving the core financial challenges that hold businesses back at every stage of their development, creating greater economic opportunity and using AI to democratize access to financial capabilities that were traditionally reserved for large corporations. As Kapital continues to grow profitably and increase the operating leverage of our business, this new capital will allow us to accelerate our next phase of growth and expand our impact in priority markets such as Mexico and the United States."

René Saúl, CEO and co-founder of Kapital.

The companies involved

Kapital is a global financial institution headquartered in Mexico City. It is recognized as one of the ten unicorn startups in Mexico and has been twice named a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum. The firm operates as a regulated financial entity, combining traditional infrastructure with an AI-powered technology platform to manage operations, credit, and investment for both individuals and businesses. Co-led by René Saúl, the company has positioned itself as a dominant B2B player in the Latin American fintech landscape.

Fasanara Capital, a key backer in this round, is an alternative asset manager that has become a prolific investor in the fintech space, particularly in debt and equity facilities for lending platforms. Tru Arrow Partners, co-founded by Managing Partner Adam Silverschotz, focuses on growth-stage technology investments. Other participants include Overlay Capital, an investment firm focused on sustainable and innovative ventures, and NS Partners, an investment group with a global footprint. These firms join a cap table that supports Kapital’s strategy of integrating brokerage and fund management into a broader business banking ecosystem.

What FF News has reported before

Fasanara Capital has been exceptionally active in the SME financing and credit space over the last year. FF News previously reported on their involvement in a major Latin American deal when Addi Secures a $71M Credit Upsize from Goldman Sachs, Fasanara Capital, and BBVA Spark, Reinforcing Global Confidence and Accelerating Its Growth. The firm’s appetite for debt facilities was also evident in Europe, as seen when Finkr Advises Finspot on €25 Million Debt Facility from Fasanara Capital. Beyond these, Fasanara has extended its reach into the Middle East and global supply chain sectors, as covered in Fina Secures $75M Shariah-Compliant Facility from Fasanara Capital to Scale Saudi SME Financing and the recent SILQ Secures $100M Financing to Scale Fina’s Embedded Finance Infrastructure for SMEs.

What this means

The successful $125 million raise for Kapital underscores a shift in the fintech sector where "AI-powered" is moving from a marketing buzzword to a fundamental requirement for risk management and operational efficiency. By securing this level of funding in a high-interest-rate environment, Kapital puts significant pressure on traditional regional banks in Latin America that have historically struggled to serve the SME segment with speed or precision. The industry is now watching to see if Kapital can successfully translate its Mexican success into the highly competitive U.S. market. This deal suggests that for B2B fintechs, the path to dominance now requires a combination of regulated status and proprietary data intelligence.
