Streamex Secures $1M Institutional Allocation for GLDY Tokenized Gold Strategy
By Ali Paterson · 25 September 2026

Streamex Corp. has secured its first institutional capital allocation for GLDY, its gold-backed token, marking a pivotal shift for the commodity tokenization sector. By moving beyond individual accredited investors to institutional-grade relative-value strategies, the deal validates the utility of blockchain-native assets as viable components within sophisticated, yield-generating financial frameworks.
What was announced
Streamex Corp., a Nasdaq-listed entity, confirmed that a leading institutional investor has committed capital to a strategy utilizing GLDY, the company's gold-backed token. The initial allocation of $1 million was directed into the Aureon Relative Value Fund, a systematic investment vehicle managed by Metalayer Capital. This strategy is specifically engineered to be market-neutral regarding the price of gold, pairing a long position in GLDY with an offsetting short position in gold-linked perpetual futures. By doing so, the fund is designed to be largely indifferent to the volatility of gold prices, focusing instead on the 3.5% annual yield Streamex targets for GLDY holders. This yield is generated through a specialized gold-leasing program.
The deployment of institutional capital into GLDY represents a shift in Streamex's growth strategy, which previously relied on accredited individual investors. The company earns fees based on the assets under management within the GLDY ecosystem, making these institutional inflows a significant driver of corporate revenue. In August, Streamex established a 90-day roadmap, with the conversion of institutional allocations cited as a primary objective. While the initial $1 million is final, follow-on investments are anticipated but not guaranteed. To support market stability, Metalayer Capital also serves as a liquidity provider for GLDY on various trading venues and maintains the ability to mint and redeem the token directly with the issuer. GLDY is currently offered to eligible investors under exemptions from securities registration. To maintain transparency, Streamex utilizes a Chainlink proof-of-reserves feed to publish its gold holdings and has completed six consecutive monthly distributions to token holders as of September.
"Converting the first institutional allocations into GLDY was at the top of that list."

The companies involved
Streamex Corp. is a Nasdaq-listed technology firm dedicated to building digital infrastructure for the future of commodity markets. The company specializes in tokenization, a process that converts rights to a physical asset—in this case, gold—into a digital token on a blockchain. Streamex maintains a public presence through its investor relations portal and has focused its recent efforts on GLDY, a token that combines the store-of-value properties of gold with the yield-generating potential of decentralized finance. To ensure transparency for its investors, the company utilizes a Chainlink proof-of-reserves feed, providing real-time verification of the physical gold backing its digital tokens.
Metalayer Capital is a systematic investment manager founded by former executives from the quantitative hedge fund Two Sigma. The firm applies rigorous, data-driven investment strategies to the digital asset market, as evidenced by its Aureon Relative Value Fund. Metalayer functions as a critical participant in the Streamex ecosystem, acting as a liquidity provider and an authorized participant capable of direct minting and redemption. Despite these operational ties, Streamex does not sponsor or manage Metalayer’s funds, and the two entities remain distinct in their corporate governance and compensation structures. Metalayer’s involvement brings a level of quantitative rigor to the GLDY ecosystem that is often associated with traditional high-frequency and systematic trading firms.
What this means
This move signals that the "tokenization of everything" is entering a more mature phase where the focus shifts from retail speculation to institutional utility. For the fintech sector, the use of GLDY in a relative-value strategy demonstrates that tokenized commodities are no longer just digital wrappers for gold; they are becoming functional financial instruments that can be integrated into complex hedging and yield-harvesting models. The pressure is now on traditional gold ETFs and custodians to justify their lack of yield in the face of blockchain-native alternatives. However, the success of this model hinges on the continued reliability of proof-of-reserves and the stability of the underlying leasing programs. The industry will likely watch if other systematic managers follow Metalayer’s lead in treating tokenized commodities as a distinct asset class for yield generation.
