Studio369, the game development company behind the critically acclaimed PvP mech shooter MetalCore, today announced its migration to the Solana blockchain. "We're thrilled to bring MetalCore to Solana, leveraging its infrastructure to enhance the on-chain user experience and unlock Solana's unique advantages," said Matt Candler, CEO of Studio369. "Metalcore has repeatedly won best web3 game awards, and we want to bring the best infrastructure to our players so they can enjoy the game in the most convenient and frictionless way possible.” MetalCore will also leverage Solana Labs's GameShift platform, which offers an integrated storefront and streamlined payment systems. This significantly reduces friction for both Web2 and Web3 users, making it easier for players to make in-game purchases and engage with the game's economy. This way, GameShift’s dedicated marketplace will expand MetalCore’s discoverability and user experience even further. Among other things, Solana's high throughput will ensure that all in-game actions requiring blockchain interactions will be near-instantaneous, simultaneously offering a source of enhanced liquidity by integrating MetalCore into the blockchain’s vibrant ecosystem. The integration on Solana also complements MetalCore's recent launch of Season 1: MetalPunk Rhapsody, which introduced a transition from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5, new game modes, and an improved onboarding experience for new players that eliminated the need for crypto wallets or prior blockchain knowledge. This streamlined entry process allows gamers to dive straight into the action without any technical barriers. MetalCore has also introduced a new competitive leaderboard system for Season 1, offering players a chance to earn rewards based on their rank rather than raw point accumulation. This created a more engaging and balanced competitive environment for both casual and hardcore players. The Solana version of MetalCore is scheduled for release for Season 2 in November. Existing players will have the option to bridge their assets to Solana, while newcomers will start on Solana when commencing their journey on the planet Kerberos.
