Money20/20 USA 2025: “What is the Biggest Buzzword?”

At Money20/20 USA 2025, attendees were asked what buzzwords they’re hearing most, beyond the usual AI and stablecoins. While those two clearly dominate, the answers showed the conversation is branching out into more practical territory.

Several people pointed to digital assets as a recurring theme. It’s a broad term, but one that reflects how the industry is thinking about tokenisation, new payment rails and the future of value movement. It’s become a catch-all for where financial services are heading next.

Other attendees at Money20/20 USA 2025 highlighted interoperability, while less flashy but is highly relevant topic which speaks to a real challenge facing banks and fintechs alike: making different systems, platforms and networks work together smoothly without adding friction.

Embedded finance also stood out, reflecting how financial services are increasingly built directly into non-financial products. Payments, wallets and lending are showing up where users already are, rather than forcing them into separate banking experiences and while one attendee nearly said stablecoins again, they instead summed it up as crypto more broadly, noting that for many companies, it’s simply part of the space they operate in every day.

Taken together, the responses show that while AI and stablecoins lead the hype, digital assets, interoperability and embedded finance are where a lot of the real conversations at Money20/20 USA 2025 are happening.
