Top Tips for the Optimal Ecommerce Checkout Experience | Nexi Roadshow: OMR Hamburg
Top tips for the optimal ecommerce checkout experience.
For this extra special addition to the Nexi Roadshow we speak to Lars Denzer, from Makaira, Jan Meiẞner, from Brandpfeil Agency and Jamal Febo at Nexi Group, to find out their top tips for merchants operating online in DACH.
All three were attending OMR in Hamburg so it was ideal timing to have a conversation as we were also visiting as part of our Nexi Roadshow. Brandpfeil’s offices also made the perfect location for the interview. You can catch the rest of our videos from Hamburg right here.
The interview is in German, but has English subtitles so be sure to watch along and find out what these guys have to say.
Kicking us off, Jamal Febo, Head of Product Success at Nexi Group, discusses the critical considerations for crafting an online checkout experience. He points out that a complex and lengthy checkout process can deter customers, leading them to abandon their purchases. With cart abandonment rates typically sitting at around 70% it’s imperative for online stores to make their checkout as good as possible.
So, what’s the answer? Streamline the checkout, minimize the number of steps and questions, and maintain the customer’s emotional engagement, thereby reducing the risk of reconsideration.
The Importance of Performance
In the video, Lars Denzer, Business Development Manager at Makaira, emphasizes three key elements for an online storefront: performance, product presentation, and checkout efficiency. He highlights the importance of fast loading times, well-organized product pages with high-quality images and clear information.
Jan Meiẞner who heads up ecommerce for Brandpfeil was ideally placed to talk about the whole marketing side of things and outlines best practices for driving traffic, focusing on a well-defined product range and pricing strategy. He recommends performance marketing, SEO, and email marketing, and describes Brandpfeil’s comprehensive support for merchants, including development, design, and marketing services.
Febo discusses the evolution of payment methods, stressing the need to select the most relevant options based on factors like currency, basket size, and market share. Examples he gives include Buy Now, Pay Later services and digital wallets, which cater to different markets and preferences
The Rise of Turbo-Selling
Denzer also introduces us to “turbo selling,” which is facilitated by Makaira’s integration with Nexi, allowing for immediate checkout directly from the product page. This is an example of a one-click checkout process which significantly enhances conversion rates and is becoming increasingly popular, in the wake of Amazon’s dominance.
Also, in the video Meiẞner highlights the challenges in payment processing, and Febo discusses future challenges for merchants, particularly the fragmentation of payment methods in the German market. There’s much more but you’ll have to watch the video to hear their great insights and get tooled up to tackle this growing market.
There’s some clear messages throughout and making sure your payment abilities are watertight, by partnering with a company like Nexi, is one of them. Stay tuned to the rest of our coverage at OMR to find out more.
