Press Release: Beyond the Noise: Why Euroclear Goes to Sibos Every Year | Featured Image by FF News

Quick Summary

Isabelle Delorme, Global Head of Product Strategy & Innovation at Euroclear, explains why the market infrastructure is at Sibos every year. For her it is the one place where all stakeholders meet once a year, a chance to showcase what Euroclear has delivered, and above all a chance to confirm or challenge its vision by finding out what is becoming reality beyond the noise.

Why does Sibos matter so much to Euroclear?

Delorme calls Sibos one of the most important industry events of the year, because it is where all stakeholders meet in one place, once a year. That makes it more than a networking opportunity. It is, in her words, a chance to meet but also challenge ourselves.

For Euroclear specifically, having everyone in the same place means the team can check where the rest of the industry is heading and test its own direction against it. Being there every year, she says, is what makes that check so valuable: it gives a consistent annual read on where the market really is.

Is Sibos about showcasing, or about conversations?

Both, but not equally. Euroclear does use Sibos to showcase what it has recently delivered to the market. Delorme is clear, though, that the more important part is the conversations.

Those conversations are how Euroclear checks what is actually becoming reality, as opposed to what is simply loud. The goal is to probably confirm or challenge our vision, using what clients, peers and partners are saying to sharpen the plan rather than simply present it.

What does "beyond the noise" mean in practice?

Delorme draws a line between "all the fancy topics" that dominate industry events and what is genuinely being put into practice. The question she wants Sibos to answer is a simple one: where is the reality, actually?

For a financial market infrastructure, that distinction matters. Euroclear has to commit to changes that clients will rely on for years, so separating real momentum from hype is part of the job, and Sibos is one of the few places where the whole ecosystem can be tested at once.

FF NEWS TAKE:

It is refreshing to hear an infrastructure leader describe Sibos as a reality check rather than a stage. The industry spends a lot of the week talking about what might happen. Delorme is signalling that Euroclear will be listening for what is actually happening, and is prepared to have its own vision challenged. That is exactly the right posture for an organisation whose decisions become other people's plumbing.
