Werner Decker, American Express | FF News
Werner Decker  is the German Managing Director of American Express. After completing his high school diploma, he first completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk at the Kreis- und Stadtsparkasse Speyer, then he studied business administration at the University of Mannheim and graduated with a degree in business administration. He began his professional career at the credit card company Visa in Frankfurt am Main . He then worked in marketing for Santander Direkt Bank AG and later as Marketing Director for Entrium Direct Bankers AG in Nuremberg , which is now part of ING-DiBa. Werner Decker has been with American Express since 1999, initially at American Express Bank GmbH and American Express International. From August 2003 he was Managing Director of American Express Finanzmanagement GmbH in Heidelberg . He has been the German head of American Express since July 2005 and, with 1.3 million credit cards issued, runs the third largest credit card provider in Germany after Mastercard and Visa.
